Bitter Coast "South" [Claimed]
See Information for Region Modders for important modding information.

Claimed by TheImperialDragon

What is the Bitter Coast?

he Bitter Coast is the humid, swampy region covering the eastern coast of our landmass as well as the western coast of Vvardenfell. Old ES Veterans will probably be very familiar with the Bitter Coast. Bordering the Bitter Coast on our landmass is the Deepen Meadows to the southwest, Ashunor Valley and Steadhelm to the west, and the Reich Parkeep region to the northwest.

This particular claim is for a part of the Bitter Coast stretching from east of the Deepen Meadows region all the way up to Latrys Island. Please consult the region map for details on our landmass, see also the attached map.

The land is bitter, the air is bitter, the water is bitter, such is why the Bitter Coast is appropriately named. Few people know their way around, making the Bitter Coast an ideal locale for bandits whose caves dot the region.

The Ashunor River is important because it flows through our landmass. Starting from our main city, Silgrad Tower, it flows to, through and around the Deepen Moor, back down south of Ashunor valley, north between the valley and the Steadhelm region, and up through the Bitter Coast region (past Ebbedin) into the Inner Sea.

Generation Preset

Open the Oblivon and Silgrad ESMs in the CS and find the region named "STBCLatrysNorth" under our worldspace (SilgradTowerLand). Duplicate the region and rename it according to your modder's abbreviation.

Once you have a base region to work from, you may make small changes to the region preset. Test the preset by auto-generating a small area of 6 * 6 cells, then if you are satisfied, send your ESP file to TheImperialDragon to be checked for errors. Once TheImperialDragon clears it, the file will be sent to sandor so it can be merged to the main ESM. You should not begin generating the whole region until after your preset has been merged to the main ESM. After the preset is merged, you may begin generating the landscape. It would be best to send small chunks of generated material at a time. The file size of the ESP you are working from should never exceed (and probably shouldn't even approach) 15 Mb.

After the region has been generated, you may begin customizing the landscape by hand, whether it be with paths, villages, dungeons, nature scenes, ruins, or anything else that comes to mind. Smile
This area of the Bitter Coast may have no more than one settlement because it is hostile and isolated. Roads need to lead to any settlements you create.
Here is a map of the region and it's boundaries:

Please try to leave the island at around (79,-75) in the bottom right corner of the map alone, as sandor is using that area.

I have generated a preset for this area.
I hope you'll like it.
I've made 4 cells extra because the first run took too much time.

Okay, I had a look.

I think you've got an appropriate number of rocks, but it would be nice if they could be just a bit closer together. You could probably use a few more thick-stumped trees though, as opposed to the thinner ones. So more BC 06 and 07-type trees, and fewer of the others. A bit more flora might be nice. The rocks generally need to be sunk more. I personally might have replaced StFloraBiCoLuminousRussola08 with one of the other Luminous Russula mushrooms because 08 does look a bit weird on the landscape.

Maybe this is just me, but the mud landscape texture seems a bit out of place. Confusedhrug:

It's a good start. Good enthusiasm, I appreciate your help! :goodjob:

Sorry to cut in here but I really love the drooping foliage on those TES3 trees. I'm still looking for help with sprawling swamp trees for my Steadhelm area. Can you let me know if you know of any developments in this area if you happen to come across it?

This was my original request: Steadhelm Features Requests
Cunning Linguist (Writer and Voice Actor - Lost Spires, St and many, many more.)
Lizard King - Leader of the Black Marsh mod

IG: I don't think we have any trees like that, not yet anyway. There were trees that The Modax Jago was making, but I don't know about the status of those or if they can be used like speedtrees. The others (growing from rock faces) remind me of the West Gash trees from TES3, but we don't have those either. Confusedhrug: I'll keep your request in mind though.

blackbird: It looks better. Smile

Here's what I noticed:

SilgradBlackGumBcDead06 and SilgradBlackGumBc05 should be sunk a little bit, you should look over the tree sinking settings. The rocks, again, need to be sunk just a few more units. Decrease the smaller rocks' radii, but don't overdo it. StFloraBiCoVioletCoprinus03 needs to be sunk more. StFloraBiCoLuminousRussola03 also needs to be sunk more.

Did you change the densities of the rocks? It looks as though there ought to be more of them. Perhaps it's because of the thicker trees' radii? Confusedhrug:

You should go over the landscape and take a few notes about changes that you think would improve the preset.

Thanks blackbird. Smile I think I'll use your preset as a base, but so you know, I will be making a lot of adjustments to it, most of which will be in order to adapt it to the new Bitter Coast landscape.
