Cerro Vampires

Chapter 1

The Curse of the Cerro

It is said that the history of the Curse of Silgrad began at the very dawn of Resdayn,
when the prophet Veloth led his people across the land in search of a new home. Many were
tired and weary from the travel and once the newly-named Velothi mountains were crossed the
assembled clans of the Chimer stopped to rest near a running stream.

The next morning as the clans rose to start their journey again But the great warriors
Mehna, Bula and Gerha spoke of the rich appearance of the land and questioned the wisdom of
moving on, deciding to confront Veloth and request permission for their families to stay
and make this their new home.

Veloth reluctantly agreed, for he held the trio of 3 brothers in high esteem, and so they
remained behind with their families and named their new home Kogo-Tel. They immediately
began building homes and sowing the ground with the seeds they had brought with them from the Summersets.

After several days had past they had completed family huts
and a common area to meet and gather food. The hunting was good
of wild beast and the soil was rich and produced quickly. They took this as a sign
that their efforts had pleased well the Good Daedra. This was perhaps foolish of them.
One should never forget how dangerous it is to take the favor of these ancient beings for granted.

Weeks had past and all was good. Late one evening some of the
hunters went out, as they had heard the sounds of beasts nearby
and thought it good to hunt. It was not until the next morning
that it was noticed that they had not returned and Mehna sent
his brother Bula and a few other merfolk out to find them.

Bula returned with a downcast face and conferred with Mehna
and the other clan leaders. They had found the bodies of the
hunters. Bula noted that the marks on their bodies did not look
like those of a beast, but what it was that had killed them he did not know.

It was decided that the merfolk take turns guarding the town
during the evenings, a tower was built in the center for the
watchmen to survey the land from. And it was called Zilgras, after the mage who charted its construction,
but through the corruption of the centuries and influence of the Imperial tongue, it has come to be known as Silgrad…

Here the text abruptly ends, as it appears that the later half has been torn out.

(we jump ahead several weeks)

The journal of Mehna

It appears these creatures are vile revenants who have followed us
here from the lands of man. They have attacked us relentlessly
and many of our clan are now dead. Women and children as well!
I fear for our lives, my brother Bula has taken some of the
remaining mer toward the east to find help. Perhaps it is not too late for them to catch up to Veloth’s winter camp.

Another attack. My brother, my dear brother Gerha has fallen.
These vile creatures shall perish for this. Many of the clan fled
Eastward. I pray that they have better fortune than us..

(days later)

The attacks continue. Our numbers are down to 6, Bula has not
Returned. Where could he be? We cannot hold on much longer.

(days later)

Relentless! They are taking us one by one. Just two of us remain.
I am the leader of this clan – to think that I have lead us to this! Forgive
Me! My Beloved brother still missing, when will he return?

(next day)

Attacked again, I fought them off as bravely as I could
but I have succumbed… I feel the blood chill inside me oh brother oh brother come
rescue me rescue me rescue me

( a few days later)

The final entry is written in a different hand:

All are dead but I, Bula and my brother Mehna, bitten I was
by the vileness of those monsters. My brother lies dying and I too
suffer the same. Forgive us.

Chapter 2

Awakening

Strength has re-entered me as no other, I feel alive
and full of power. Mehna still has not awakened. He too
was bitten and suffers the nightmares as I. Foul creatures…
I will avenge... avenge… I shall not rest until, my family my clan
taken from me, my life gone to this prison... Strengthen me
oh Azura, Boethia, Mephala! All my exiled ancestors from Summerset and Aldmeris, grant me the power I need to fight this death.

Mehna has awakened, pain racks him. I know of this curse
as I have already endured what he now feels. I calmed him by an offering, Blood
is the only thing which can calm, the blood of our own kind…
Sickening, disgraceful, foul. He must gain his strength…
Strange that we have survived with mind and understanding intact, not like the others…
What is this we have been given, a blessing or a curse?
We know what we are yet we know what we were and desire to
be, we can not resist, yet we reject our needs we fight our
curse and win. How? We shall be avenged in this I know.

Several days have passed…

We are fully restored, Mehna and I have discussed our
situation and became of determined of one mind that we would
avenge those we had lost.
Our condition gives us the time we need and the ability
as well. The ones who did this to us must be destroyed. Then, and only then, will we look for a cure for our condition, this I swear on the lives of my clansmer…
