Chinese Straight Sword (Jian)
I felt I needed to at least feel as if I'm contributing to this mod instead of just being a quasi-cheerleader so I thought I would attempt to give some ideas.
I haven't seen any mods for blades such as these so I figured it might be cool for the Akavir Project. I've always wondered why I haven't seen any Chinese straight sword (jian) mods considering the popularity of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon not all that long ago and the perceived ease of modeling (perceived because I'm no modeler and really don't know how difficult it might be). Here are a couple examples I?ve found: http://www.wutangcenter.com/wt/CTsword.htm http://therionarms.com/reenact/therionarms_c531.html Hope this helps... :goodjob:

We should have a long two-handed version of the jian (shuangshou jian), that would be cool

You're right, the historical Wallace sword is a 2 handed claymore - but in the Braveheart movie, Mel Gibson can be seen weilding it with one hand at times.
So the model it probably wasn't long enough or heavy enough to be an authentic Scottish claymore.

Indeed, it's an abomination
It's suppost to be a claymore, but the size comes closer to a bastard sword, although the bastard swords i have seen looked very different.

It was interesting that in the movie, the English wore metal lamellar and at the Battle of Stirling Bridge there was no bridge...I guess historical considerations was last on their minds.
