Concepts/Planning Ideas

I think scripting for the door would be quite easy actually. Something like:

Begin OnActivate
If [container] contains [piece1] [piece2] [piece3] [piece4]
open door
endif
end

Of course i'm not sure if "contains" is a function, but you'll figure it out i guess. I think look at the merchant scripts, because merchants have to have a container that they store all of their items in (i think that's right) and that's how they know what to sell. (at least that's what i figured, but w/e)

Hmm not sure not a scripter, but the merchants are linked to the chest and thats how they access them, they have no scripts.

I need to get a decent drawing and then get this in the visual dev thread to get it made.

I don't think the scripting will be too difficult for the unlocking

The door of course is a different story, that too shouldn't be too hard either just time consuming to make different doors to show the different symbols as each one is added...... thats the idea isn't it?

Enjoy

Yeah it is, as the player finds the parts they will insert them and the door slot will be filled. The player will also choose what part goes where.

Very good

So their may not be different symbols for a particular door, just a number of like symbols that when placed in the proper sequence the door opens?

Enjoy

How would you know what symbol goes where? Prehaps there should be a clue that you'd really have to dig for... Hmm something like the room layout, or the placement of a similar symbol in each room, that serves to note the position.

The Ole Indiana Jones Jedi Trick :lmao:

Thats a good way to go if using the same symbol. Matching them up with what you find in a room layout, a different floor tile or a sequence of numbers in a wall piece, a astrology room with certain features of the cosmos highlighted

Cool !! Big Grin

I think that's a cool idea, I tried to do something similar for TES3 (a vault) once, but the scripting was a little messy.
