Free version of XSI Softimage
Hi guys

I just found this; http://www.softimage.com/products/modtool/

Apparently its a free version of XSI, the 3d modeling software used by Valve Software and other game developers. It seems that this free version is focused mainly on modmaking.

I thought that maybe it could be usefull.

Seems interesting, I have been looking for a good bit of softwre to learn how to model. My only gripe is can we port the models over to Oblivion. It has no mention of Gamebryo files.

Good Find though Tobi

Apparently you can export files to obj, then import those into Blender and then export them to nif.

Might be somewhat complicated, but I thought that for those who would like to start a career in game development, XSI would be a good place to start since many companies use XSI, Valve, Lionhead and Io Interactive are a few I know.
Dunno how many companies uses Blender Smile

I know that Waalx does his modelling with XSI modtools (the free version of SoftImage XSI). I've never looked into in, but from what I understand it's a pretty solid program. The only downside for Oblivion modelling is the lack of export plugin; as mentioned, one has to export to .obj and use Blender for the export to .nif.
