[GAME/PERFORMANCE] Oblivion crash bug
I just got Oblivion today, and my game experience has been marred by frequent CTDs (crash to desktop). If you're experiencing them too, I'd like to highlight the pinned information on ESF's 'Hardware and Software Issues':

Quote:Some users may experience frequent crashing due to an older system file. These crashes may be attributed to the 'mpeg2dmx.ax' file. Simply renaming the file to "mpeg2dmx.ax.old" may correct this issue.

Just open up the C:\ folder on your comp, hit CTRL+F and search for mpeg2dmx.ax to find where it's located on your system, and rename it. This should solve the problem. If it doesn't, your CTD problem is probably caused by something else.



Edit: Doing this, and this alone, completely solved my CTD problem.

My pet peeve: huge images in img code. I reserve the right to make any such image into a clickeable thumbnail whenever I see it.
