Guidelines for Book Placement

[/HR]

.....Please note: this post was entirely written by Deeza but needed to be re-classified as IMPORTANT.....

The next version of the esm will contain the impressive library of 55 books produced by various contributors to the mod since its beginning. They cover a wonderfully diverse range of subjects, from a six-volume Encyclopedia of Black Marsh lore, to local legends and culture, to biographies of important individuals, mystical religious texts, guides to military tactics, and so much more!

As Editor I'm going to lay down a few rules over the next few days as to which books can be placed where. The most important by far are the following two groups:

Banned Books
These are books which are either extremely insulting to the government of Black Marsh or subversive or revolutionary in nature. Being caught with these books is a serious offense, and people will NEVER display them openly. Of course, guerilla factions and secret organisations may have many copies of these books to hand out to supporters. These books include:
Kleptocracy (a book which savagely criticises the Royal Court)
The War Path, Parts 1 & 2 (a primer for Argonians practicing guerilla warfare)
Manifesto of the Khnaten Liberation Army (a pamphlet outlining the revolutionary group's goals)

Mystical Lore
These are books which contain important information about the mysteries of Black Marsh. Because some of them give a lot away, the player should have to work really hard to get to them. Knowledge is power, and the groups who have access to these important and rare texts will guard them jealously under lock and key. These books include:
Majesty of the Rootworms (explains the metaphysical link between Rootworms and Hist)
The River-Sunk Child (documents a powerful Argonian Bhuru ritual)
The Here of Nothing (ONE version of the Argonian mythology of their origins)
The World According to the Paatru, Parts 1 & 2 (a lot of information about the frog-people and the Hist)

More will be added to these lists in future updates as the list of books grows. In general, use common sense. A peasant is unlikely to have expensive, intellectual books such as the Encyclopedia Palusnigricans, and serious scholars are unlikely to have many popular works of fiction such as Orphans of Arnesia.

We could really use a categorisation system for these writings e.g. essential lore, Faction background, guides, fiction etc. The main goal for such a thing is to make it easier for interior modders to find the correct books for their claim. Would you be able to set that up for us, Deeza?

Btw, I have some new possibilities for book designs here: Modders Resources and new items .
