For the desert corps it will depend on the table of organisation and their set up as you guys mentioned earlier re bases in town/s

if you accept my thoughts on the T/O then the guy/s who supply the units out on patrol will be th eobvious link, but maybe too obvious to go straight to that?

So there might be a number of missions that you could accept with other groups that would bring you to the attention of the recruiters who would accept you or reject you according to the way you handle the mission/s.
