Trap quests

What about a quest where a NPC asks you something to do or to go to a desolate place and it seems to be a trap where the NPC tries to rob or kill the player.

This is a good idea, simple and realistic

We would need to know #1 what causes the Player to get involved with this npc.

Lets say the npc is located on one of the city streets and says "Hey, you I got something you might be interested in"

The player says "OK" what?

NPC will then give a sales pitch like a shoe salesman on a sunday night
(no offense to shoe salesman )

and asks the player to meet him/her at a specific location for the merchandise

player agrees and goes..............trap !

#2 what kinda trap we talkin about

#3 the player escapes the trap, what do we do with the npc, kill,
have arrested ?

Something like the recover the ring in the pool quest in MW (where you could find the amulet of shadows).

Ohhhhh ok I remember this one, girl says she lost the ring in the pond and theirs a npc hidden in the background (chameleon)
