RE: Winter in Minnesota (humor)
I've heard stories almost identical with the exception that Finns or Estonians have been in the role of the frost-immune. Could that joke be inspired by current events? I hear it's pretty freezing up there..
The Nord pointed his finger at the building on the hill, and said: "That is the Emerald Hall, the Palace of Ysgramor."

Man it does get cold up there. Very flat land so the winds and fronts come rolling in.

Went to school in Duluth as a kid. I remember by the time I got to school in the morning, my "snot" had made nice little yellow icicles hanging from my nose.

I moved to Texas and I was like "what the heck does closed for snow day mean?"

I have a really cool picture from years ago that I'll try to find and post.
*for those who don't know* Minnesota is edged by Lake Superior. This lake is so big it's actually affected by the moon and has waves (the wind helps too) One day it was so cold it actually froze the waves as they crashed. My dad took several pictures.

RE: Winter in Minnesota (humor)
Its kind of cold here in MI at the moment, but nowhere near that cold. I never heard of waves just freezing. That IS cold. And I can only guess the people up in the U.P. only haven't got it that bad because of all the hills, mountains, and trees blocking all the wind. And schools in Cadillac don't get snow days either, but they do get fog days.....strange.
