The white on black and the wheel shape both look fabulous Kielanai.
Thank you. - Kielanai - 04-04-2007
The wheel is of course a symbol of eternal cycles and rebirth, so that's why I chose it. I'm trying to find mon that have good meanings. ... Although I might have to break down and give someone the takoyaki mon. :lmao: (It's three octopus dumplings on a stick.) Okay, just kidding.
Moon-star mon ... Kore?
This is pieced together from what was behind that picture. I can try to smooth out the wrinkles a little.
There is a real moon-star crest for the Chiba clan, but it doesn't look like this. Turn the moon a bit to the right, and put a circle between the two horns. But, just curious, will this have anything to do with Nerevarine? It's a moon and star.

Octopus dumplings on a stick!?
How would that look on a uniform?
I like the meaning of the kuruma mon
It sort of looks like a dart board, i will be tempted to use it for target practice
Yeah the wrinkles need to be removed from the mon :check:
The Chiba mon... i did a Google search for the mon, this is what i found:
This tsukiboshi no mon looks awesome...... now i want both of them in-game
This one on a green uniform (like the color in the picture).
Hehe ... - Kielanai - 04-05-2007
The takoyaki/octopus dumpling uniform is a must now, ... along with that usagi/rabbit robe.
No, no dart board! LoL! Well, here is my attempt at the Moon-Star mon. Let me know if this is what you had in mind, or if I need to alter anything.
Will work on the tsukiboshi once this one clears. ^_^ (And yes, that is exactly the one I was thinking of.)

Wow! I love it.

Yeah, that looks right to me :goodjob: :goodjob:
I can't wait to see the tsukiboshi mon uniform
Tsukiboshi mon - Kielanai - 04-06-2007
Thank you. Well, here is what I have attempted for tsukiboshi mon. There is a difference between this picture and what I actually have, though, because after taking these I realized there was a problem with inner leg mon showing up and had to remove it. I like the way it looks from the outside, back, and front to have a small mon on the hakama like that, but it doubled on the inner seam. So, right now I don't see a way to use mon there. It stretches a little when sitting, as the picture shows, but no worse than any other clothing item with designs. If I think of some solution, I may put it back. Also, I tried it originally with a kimono the same color as the rest, and it looked ... green. Really green. So, that's why I chose to break up the green with black. I may shrink the mon on the other moon mon to be more this size, too. Can see it better. Is this okay? Or are there other preferences?
- Ysne - 04-06-2007
I think breaking up the green with the black is very tastefully done. It does keep it from being too green.
- Kodama - 04-06-2007
I think that shrinking the other mon to the same size as the tsukiboshi mon is a good idea.
The color contrast looks good too, well done! :goodjob:
Note that the hakama and the kataginu are often the same color, so it's no problem if you do make them the same color, it's often the sleeves that are a different color, like in this picture:
How about putting another mon on the front of the kataginu?
Like this one:
I like how the tsukiboshi mon on your uniform looks on the front
Okay. - Kielanai - 04-08-2007
I will try to work on it next weekend. I'm sick today, so expect to be down a couple of days and then have to make up work missed.
It's difficult to get hakama and kataginu the same color because they start as different shades of gray; so often they are a shade off, but I usually try to make them the same. You're right, it's the kimono underneath that's usually different, just like in the picture. But I went to a culture festival yesterday and saw lots of nice kimono for various activities that gave me some ideas, including one empress kimono that was on display for the 20th anniversary of the festival. I had fun watching nou mask being made, watching yosakoi dancing, and children playing taiko. I tried to sing Chinese poetry, and ate yummy takoyaki, ... but today I feel bleh. So, I'll have to wait to put those ideas to use.
