RE: Oh, that would be wonderful! - Kielanai - 07-16-2007 Thanks for asking RA. At one time I rattled off a long list of ideas, but right now I'm kind of empty. In fact, I'm wondering how much more I'll be able to do with Oblivion at all. My computer has been acting strange this past week. When I turn it on, it loads Windows sign-in, desktop photo, and some of bottom toolbar, but then locks up before giving me anything else. No icons, no start menu, no virus scan, ... nothing. Once I get it to load completely, it works fine, but getting it to load has become a problem. I had to try three times this morning just to check email. Right now, while it's running correctly, I'm doing scans to try to figure out what the problem is and make sure everything is backed up, in case it doesn't load again. I may take out some of the biggest programs to see if that helps (because my computer is old and very full). Oblivion would be one of the programs to delete because my computer is pushing its limit to run this game (crashes after 30 min of play, can't walk PC in large, open spaces with lots of lights or trees, inventory does strange things sometimes, etc.). If freeing up space doesn't solve the problem, I can't afford to do anything toward fixing or replacing it at this time. I just spent 40000 yen on a new taiko, so it will take a while to build saved "fun money" again. (That always happens when I buy something expensive; something else stops working.) Either way, I'll let everyone know when I figure out the problem. Gomen. - Kodama - 07-16-2007 I have seen some taiko on Ebay, they are not as expensive as i thought they are. Maybe i should buy one just because it's cool 40.000 yen is nothing to me, i'm used to spending at least 500.000 yen for Nihon-to, i am thinking about spending 2.000.000 yen for a new addition to my collection, but i also need to buy a new and expensive computer... maybe i will just buy both I hope you can get your computer fixed Kielanai  It's funny how you can't think of something to get modelled when a modeller asks you for something to model  i have had the same problem. - Kielanai - 07-17-2007 Hehe. Taiko are addictive. Expense depends on what kind you get. I bought one that is made with plank pieces, so was only about 40000 yen. But two team members bought the single piece barrel, and they are about 300000 yen, ... and very heavy to carry to performances. :| I now have an excuse to not help them pack and carry theirs. I have to carry my own. Both kind are well-made usually, and last long if you take care of them. In eight years, we only have one drum that needed a patch. As for the computer (bakabakana pasokon ... *grumble*), I did a few scans and cleanings to free up as much space as possible without deleting programs. I have only 30% free space. So far it seems to work a little better, but I'm not trusting it very much yet. :mchm: I have everything backed up, just in case it dies on me. I will try to work on a couple of projects this weekend and see if it can handle without locking up again. Maybe someone can model me a computer that will work. That would be nice, ne? Just like when I needed a house and wanted to move into Kojima ... - Beremat - 07-17-2007 Hehe, that freezing looks like overheating! You should open up your computer and clean out the dust, overheating fried my old computer :poorme: - Kodama - 07-18-2007 Kielanai how did you back up your files? i used an external drive for my backups. "bakabakana pasokon" .... hmmm, i think that means "very stupid personal computer" I lost two computers that way, too. - Kielanai - 07-18-2007 Each in summer when it was hot, both laptops. This one is the only desktop model, and the back is open for frequent dusting. But I checked that, and it looks fine. I think it's just old and full. *sigh* I backed up with disks, so it took a while. But it's done now. If it dies, I can borrow someone's computer or go to library for email, but I won't be able to game at all for a while, if anything happens to this one. *hugs computer and begs it to hold out just a little longer* I didn't call it stupid. You misunderstood. lap: Don't let it hear you say things like that. I meant, ... su~goku kakkoii pasokon, ... ne~. Sou, sou, sou! Good, nice, dependable, very cool computer. Yes, yes. It will keep working for me because it loves me. *pats computer gently* Ne, Pasokon? Onegaishimasu? Please? *pat, pat, pat* :worship: - Kodama - 07-18-2007 Yeah, yeah, if it hears you saiying something bad to it, it just might punch you in the face! :mchm: :dunce: hh: LoL! - Kielanai - 07-19-2007 Yes, yes. They know what we think and try to be smarter. Well, I suppose the good news is that since the scans it has not locked up yet. I have been able to check email easily. I hope the good luck stays. Books Update - Kielanai - 07-21-2007 I FINALLY have an update for the books I started ... Okay, I don't remember when I started. Anyway, here are the three versions for the snow demon tale, so it can be turned into a quest. There is a book with a "woodblock print" cover. (I removed writing because it showed backwards on the other side, so now it's just namahage print.) There is a scroll made of bamboo strips tied together, which is a generic texture and can be reused for other scrolls in the game, if you want. And last, there is a bone that bears an actual description of what a namahage is, written in Japanese kana. It's completely unreadable because it's cut and wrapped to fit the bone, but it gives the appearance of having a story engraved into it, I hope. I also have a suggestion for the bone, if you like. The mesh I used was standard game "clavical". However, real Chinese bone inscriptions were done on what they called "dragon bones." (Which were really bones of various animals, including dinosaurs.) Since Akavir has/had dragons, when putting the bone in the game, enlarging the size might make a nice Dragon Bone artifact. I have found that shrinking and enlarging items in Oblivion, they keep their size after being picked up and dropped, unlike Morrowind, which returned everything to standard once picked up. Just an idea to make it even more different from standard, if it works. Icons are done for all three items. I still have to edit copy. If you have suggestions for any major differences between the three versions, please let me know. I will work on design for vampire cat book next, and possibly an alternate mesh for bamboo scrolls -- one that can lie flat, supposed to open like fan or accordian. Icons for Snow Demon Artifacts Artifacts for Snow Demon - Kodama - 07-21-2007 Cool! I like it :goodjob: The dragon bone is a good idea, we will use that :check: |
