Making trees in 3DS Max 9 vs SpeedTree - Ammon - 10-08-2007
Hey all,
I was just messing arround with the features of 3Ds Max 9. Why has noone made a new tree for either, Morrowind nor Oblivion? I mean yeah it poses no importance. But it adds some spunk to some things. It keeps things from just being another mod. Take this Japanese Cherry Blossem for example:

Actually, trees for Oblivion are made using SpeedTree, which I work with

Oh,
But alas, it is good to know that you make trees as well, umm sorta.

Wait a freaking minute.
We have a speed tree user at silgrad? ( :bananarock: )
Why was I not informed? The closest I was ever aware of was FLESH's work, and he isn't really around anymore.
Please, dear jesus, we need some palms.

I'm pretty sure Valenwood has already made palm trees.
Skyrim could do with a few more fir trees though.

We have 2 speedtree users!

From what I've heard, fronds are not supported on the version of SpeedTree that OB uses and usually palms and fronds go together.
Having said that, is there maybe a way in SpeedTree to fake palms by using really large compound leaves or something?
Just wondering,
Steve

3Ds Max 9 Makes really nice palms.
Take a look:

Nope, the palm trees are 'real' models.

This one looks ok, it a genaric palm but it seems to look ok. Could use some umm more realistic textures but all good.
