OK thats great thanks for the welcome,
Just a few queries,
Over the last couple days I've been reading through the forums here and I'm just a bit confused about claims, do you just post Claimed? or send a pm? or somethng else? I'd prefer to start with a town as I am most familiar with exterior settlement making. but I am happy to do a dungeon or some interiors if they're all taken.(the towns thread was very confusing)
Also, I looked at the esm link and I am not sure wich to download (If any), a quick pointer would be greatly appreciated.

SA

- Ibsen's Ghost - 01-15-2011

No problem, SA.

Regarding the esm, you just need the latest file which is the link in this thread: Latest esm and esp updates . Sandor is our file manager and always posts up the latest files after esps are submitted to be merged.

I have sent the bsa archive file to you by PM. It just needs to go into your data folder. If it doesn't work so well (missing mesh errors and so on will tell you) then I'd advise using OBMM to unpack the bsa and put it in your folders (it takes a few minutes maximum if you know what you're doing with OBMM). :check:

Just post up on a claims thread that you'd like to do something and I'll no doubt give you the green light.

I had a quick look at your modding but noticed that it needed COBL to work. It's not something that I have and it will take a while to merge all of the folders seeing as it doesn't use a bsa. I also couldn't find the modded areas but no worries. As long as you know how to mod, I'm sure we'll be fine. We've had plenty of total noobs in the past who were fine. However, I noticed that a number of cells had asterisks next to them, indicating that you may have affected some cells not in the modded areas. You'll need to be careful with this working on an esm project as it creates what sandor calls a 'dirty mod' where changes made to other cells are potential causes of errors. I'll explain this later if needs be.

Regarding claims

The settlement claims are pretty much closed for the time being as we're working on getting the beta version released. It will come across as confusing considering the fact that there's nothing there to claim. =) At the moment, Deeza and I are discussing what new locations may just make it into the beta regions according to our maps but there's not a great deal. The reason is that settlements are the most popular claim by a long stretch so, in order to get everything done, I brought in a rule that said members should have to take on interiors, dungeons or landscaping claims to earn the rights to settlements. Deeza and I have first claims but let me know if there's something you'd particularly like to do and we can probably sort it out. You'll need to be familiar with the maps though: All Maps (REFERENCE ONLY - No Posting) and the different architecture meshes. Basically, everything towards the West on the maps (up to x co-ordinate 4) are in the beta regions.

As regards other claims, Wrothwyll Fen (a mossy ruin) and the Wasted and Bereft Rootworms remain open and available. There's also just a page worth of interiors to do so there's not a great deal either. However, we are looking to open up Moonmarch so if you are interested in taking a look at that settlement then I can pass on some claims for that one as it's quite new. Nevertheless, we're very close to the final quest stage before the beta.

This doesn't mean that settlements, dungeons and interiors are all finished or are off-limits as, once all physical modding of the worldspace is done for the beta regions, then I'll open up the rest of the worldspace to work on for the final version. Check the maps for lots of stuff you may be interested in there.

....it takes a while to get set up properly but we should be able to get you up and running shortly.

- Deeza - 01-15-2011

Hi SilverAlchemist! Sorry I'm a bit late, but welcome to BM! I hope you have fun here. I am currently working with Ibsen on sorting out the interiors for the settlement of Moonmarch (look it up here if you haven't already: All Maps (REFERENCE ONLY - No Posting) ) so we should have some more interiors for that available shortly. Otherwise, we could certainly do with some dungeons, as Ibsen said.

- crepe100 - 01-15-2011

I know I haven't been active for a long....long.....long time, but this is because I was living in Turkey with my uncle and aunty, and they have no computer, but now i'm back home and I can gte up again.

Is it possible that I could keep on writing quests or litrature/lore.

- Ibsen's Ghost - 01-15-2011

Well, we need to have effective communication for this to work. We cannot have people disappearing without warning.

Nevertheless, literature/lore is open to you. You would need to familiarise yourself with the current collection of lore we have developed and the worldspace as it now exists. Yet we are always welcoming good written material. Bear in mind that Xae and Deeza will be checking everything with their critical eye and nuking anything they deem unworthy... =) (they're harsh critics but it leads to good stuff)

As for quests, my own personal opinion is that it's best not to write them unless you mean to carry them out. As mentioned elsewhere (and on numerous occasions), no one likes doing the grunt work for someone else's project. Indeed, I've not once seen it happen in my many years of modding. However, particularly good ideas with everything considered carefully will certainly be treated with due respect and could make it into the final cut.

So how was Turkey?

- crepe100 - 01-15-2011

Turkey, it was good, very warm, I got prickly heat once and that was a pain, the biggest pain was having no computer though. Sorry about not tellin yall about it, but an annoyingly timed internet down moment happened the week before the flight.

I had written a couple of quests before, and one was generally approved, I just had to change the backing just keep the story.

- Ibsen's Ghost - 01-16-2011

Best to work on literature. It's much more likely to get approved when we go to quest stage....which really isn't too far away now. We'll take stock of the ideas when we get there but, as I say, they'll all have to fit and look attractive to the quest modder and fit in in terms of the lore and so on. I'm not stopping you though.

Dear Moderators;
I am new to BC and would love to get started right away with some interiors (and maybe caves if I am feeling brave) along with some settlements for High Rock. I have good word about you from my friends and thought I should join.

Yours Sincerely;
Dr.DeathDefing.

Hi there Dr. Death (can I just call you Dr. Death??),

Wow, you have a morbid screenname.

Lol, I'm glad to see you're interested in joining Blackmarsh.

If you have any other modding experience or specialties, don't hesitate to list them for us. It helps us know what areas you may be able to help in. But at least we know you can do interiors and dungeons.

It's late and I badly need to go to bed, but I will just repost what I wrote previously in this thread to someone else, to save time:

"Read this thread (mostly just the opening post):
Pledge of the Lizard King

Ok, before you perhaps get nervous after reading that thread's first post - don't get nervous!

We had some people sign up, offer help, then they basically ran off with the mod's files without doing anything for us. This happened quite a few times in short period of time, so Ibsen wrote "The Pledge of the Lizard King".

Basically, it boils down to this:

If you aim to help out, please do something modding-related for us, after we send you the Blackmarsh mod files. If you find that the task is too hard or something important in RL has come up (vacations, emergencies, RL job work, etc) - notify us, so we know to either give you something else easier to do, or so that we know you will be absent and unactive for a while. If you know a tentative amount of time you may be absent from the modding scene, please tell us how long this may be; also tell us if you aren't sure how long you'll be away.

Lastly, if you absolutely find that you can't continue modding for Blackmarsh, tell Ibsen's Ghost or myself - don't just disappear without warning, never to come back. We have great respect for people who keep us notified.

Ibsen will be on these forums later, and he can better guide you than I can in what is needed/etc, for the most part. So be sure to wait for him to reply, too."
