Thanks, IG
The first part of this "symphony" is ready. Now I am working on the other melody...

Nice =)
I'm a little wary of having too many people work on the music though as it's often a case of 'too many cooks spoil the broth' (I don't know if anyone is unfamiliar with that expression...?). I think the best strategy if we have more than one musician (at the moment, we have three) is to have each one focus on separate environments i.e. one deals with city music whilst another deals with dungeons.
We will probably only use small amounts of music as the total memory of music files tends to be quite large. And in fact, we are probably best off releasing music as a separate add-on to the mod. It would be worth bearing this in mind but I'm certainly not trying to discourage you or any of the others.

This one is an explore, it will last about 1.30 min.
If it must be longer.. I can bring something up.

I suggest that we make as much music as possible for now, then pick and choose carefully which ones to include when the time comes to release the mod. As for the rest, we can always release it as a "Black Marsh Greatest Hits" compilation!

That makes sense. Thanks Deeza!

Is there a place where one can hear the music?
- Ibsen's Ghost - 04-07-2009
Yes, certainly. If you check many of Xaeaix's previous posts, you will hear what he has been working on so far. This is one of his main reference points: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=810139 , although I don't think there's anything relevant to BM there.
I was also considering using some of Atolonen's old stuff (originally planned for an old Thief project). It doesn't really fit in some areas but I still love the old dungeon stuff: http://www.mikseri.net/player/player.php?newsession=1&type=4¶meter=116326 .
btw, I'm listening to your Akavir music....very impressive indeed! Incredibly high quality in fact. :goodjob: You'd certainly be welcome to throw your own ideas into the mix.

Oh, right. I expect DoZeNt will be back with a new version soon. =)

The SoundClick page is very outdated, and only intended as a (now also outdated) DBC press release. Now that I have a domain all music will end up on xaeaix.com.
Due to a busted drive I haven't been working on anything lately, though the replacement is sent and I should have it by next week. Either way, check out this link for the stuff that I've worked on so far. The dungeon pieces are finished, but the rest are early drafts.
The atmospherical piece is in a very rough state (I think I might rework the entire thing apart from the second swell), and the later part of the Stonewaste theme isn't there anymore. As for the battle theme, the render has a few dropouts and I can't decide if I like it or not.
Too many cooks does spoil the broth, indeed. If the music pieces from place to place differ too much it'll yank the immersion and spoil the sensation that it's coherent. Musicians' individual styles, equipment and effects emphasis have to be taken into consideration. Mastering all the pieces similarly could go a long way (same compression, EQ, encoding, volume levels etc.), but if a few songs use different orchestral samples than the others the gap between them will be too wide, not to mention the gap between the mod music and the original TESIV score.
I agree that the different types of music (explore, public etc.) could be assigned to individual composers as long as they're mastered the same way.
