Ebeddin16 Book Quest - Deeza - 02-09-2010

This is the dev thread for the quest attached to this claim.

The owner of the house is a middle-aged widow, who passes her time collecting rare books of obscure lore. As her family is quite wealthy, she has plenty of money and even a rare artefact or two to reward the player who brings here rare books.

The quest starts when she asks a riddle to the player when the enter the house, to determine if they are "educated". She then suggests a shopping list of books. These include:

1. The Mythic Dawn Commentaries 1-3
2. The Dwemer Tonal Architecture books from Morrowind
3. Finally, she asks you to find the rarest book of all - Sermon Zero.

On completing this quest series, it leads you into another journey to uncover the heretical texts of St. Jiub, "Confessions of a Blasphemous Prophet". The quest will involve Temple priests, sinister agents of High Helseth, and a mysterious sect devoted to the saint.

Interesting. When you say "The Dwemer Tonal Architecture books from Morrowind", are you referring to those books written in dwemer, like The Egg of Time etc.?

- Deeza - 02-09-2010

That's the idea. I was thinking that since Red Mountain was purged by the Nerevarine, the Mages' Guild has been able to fully explore and excavate the ruins there and make modern copies of these books (so they're a bit more widely available, but still rare, since they're only of interest to scholars).

- jucklesjenk - 02-09-2010

OK, but I thought that pretty much no-one could translate Dwemer.

- Deeza - 02-09-2010

I believe the Mages' Guild can, since the Nerevarine discovered a "rosetta stone" book in both Altmer and Dwemer during the events of Morrowind.

Anyway, these books will just be direct facsimiles, not translations.

On that note, there will be several books in Dwemer included in the mod.

OK, cool.

I like the Dwemer - they were done so much better than the Ayleids IMO. Seeing them return along with their books is good for me.

- Deeza - 02-10-2010

Yeah, we really need to wait until v3.0 is out to really get the Dwemer stuff going - hopefully we'll be able to get Phitt's resources by then.

FYI
We already have most of Phitt's Dwemer assets (I don't know if he made new objects since then).

IMO everything from TES3 is available. Smile

Excellent news on both counts. I'll get down to business on this claim once I get back from my holiday.
