Texturing

Dear BC members;
I am wondering how to add textures to a nif I created. It is also a custom texture. Now, i have out the nif into the Cs and it is able to shoe up but it comes up purple. So I just need to know how to add my texture.
NOTE (and this does count): I have made my object in Google SketchUP and converted it and made it solid through Blender. Now the texture comes from Google SketchUp. I have changed it to dds through GIMP. i just need to know how to add it. And the texture will be going to the WHOLE model. Every little part of the model shall be covered in this texture.
