The interesting thing about this thread is that we actually now have a Sload race! So perhaps there could be some quests which involve the slug people? Thoughts?

I like the idea, especially as it would provide a link towards understanding more about Bhuru magic and this Sload quest might lead towards finding out more about it. It might even make it into the MQ.

Say, for example, that the PC must find some potential practitioners of 'bad Bhuru' but they are carefully hidden. A Sload has the sort of influence, amorality and general character to know about such a thing. Whilst it could prove extremely hard to persuade or cajole a Sload, finding out something with blackmail potential is much more likely to reap rewards.

We are planning to have a Sload running the 'Corals and Coronets Bar & Restaurant' in Soulrest and there may have been rumours of suspect 'deliveries' which even the smugglers might allow you into their circle in order to get one-up on the Sload.

Now a Sload might use such bodies for necromancy themselves but our Sload may either use such 'items' carefully or discretely or have renounced the whole act of necromancy given the laws on such things. That doesn't mean to say they won't act on their natural instincts of greed to use their 'connections' and make a quick penny by selling them on, however...

Definitely. I think that the Sload in Soulrest would be a good starting point - there's no way a Sload would be involved in something as mundane as running a bar unless there was other... more discreet.... business they could be use it as a cover for. Sload aren't welcome in any but the sleaziest parts of the Empire, so we could definitely use them for all sorts of dodgy connections.

Yes, it's pretty much a given, isn't it?

Indeed. To quote from the PGE First Edition:

Quote:Every Sload individual encountered has been a grasping, callous, godless, self-loving schemer. They do not seem to experience or display any familiar human emotions, though they are skilled diplomats and actors, and produce gross, exaggerated parodies of human behavior [laughter at lame jokes, weeping at apparent misfortunes, furious tirades at folly or ineptitude]. They have no compunctions about blasphemy, theft, torture, kidnapping, murder, or genocide. They break laws whenever they calculate it in their best interests. They do not perceive or honor friendship or loyalty in the familiar human terms, except for a cheerful affinity for those who defeat them or trick them in any endeavor. The adult form does not apparently reproduce, and shows no interest in the fate of its offspring.

To be fair, the PGE is fascist Imperial propaganda, so it may misrepresent them a bit (the same book claims that High Elves kill 90% of their offspring for eugenic purposes). But nevertheless, it goes without saying that nobody likes the Sload. Just about the only thing the High Elves and Empire could ever agree on was that it would be a good idea to magically nuke their islands into non-existence.
