[CON] How to plan and create an interior Claim
Hi,

I have a view on how to make interior claims, which I've used over the past few months. I'll try to give you a fair 'theoretical' idea of how to start and finish a claim. All my examples are from the Steadhelm Mages Guild (click).

The Stages:

Stage 1: Concept Stage - 0%-5%
In this stage you think about how to create it. In most of the cases the house has a name(maybe it ain't a house but a cave), and with that a interior set which predefines the rough layers of the house. There are factors to consider, most important are:

- Who lives there? [Write down one word fitting for personality]
- For whom is it meant [incase of public places] [Write down one word fitting for personality]
- What is the place being used for?
- How many people live there?
- Financial state?
- Alignment?

In my example of the Mages Guild:

Quote:- Some (apprentice-)mages do, on the upper floor
- Mages, arrogant
- Research and lobbying with other guildmembers
- The building is meant for ~5 people, research-lobby
- Very rich
- Neutral-Evil

Then think of the things YOU would like to implement;

- Choose a colo(u)r
- Much/little/none/somewhere in between(swib) decoration?
- Much/little/none/somewhere in between(swib) lighting?

In my example:

Quote:- Light Red
- Much decoration
- swib lighting

After these steps, you need to write down what rooms need to be in the interior. Consider these factors:

- Does it need a kitchen?
- Does it need a bedroom?
- Does it need a eating area?
- It probably needs a [specialised room for the subject of the interior]?
- Does it need a treasury?

When thinking about such factors, you should also consider:

- How big?
- How much decorating?
- How much light?

In my example:

Quote:- No
- Yes, some small ones with 'reading light', and a little decoration
- Yes, a big one for most of the members to be eating simultaneously, much light and much decoration
- Yes, a 'research chamber'(swib light, little decoration, swib big), a library(much light, much decoration, swib big), a spell-traning chamber(little light, no decoration, very big)
- No

Then you've got to plan each floor, give each floor a different function, then use the previous rooms to fill it.

Quote:Basement:
- Function: Reading, Training, Prison
- Rooms: Library, Training chamber, Prisoncell
Firstfloor:
- Function: Entrance, Alchemy
- Rooms: Lobby, Alchemy Chamber, Sleeping Chamber, Small Treasury
Secondfloor:
- Function: Guild, Research, Eating
- Rooms: Guild Hall, Research Lab, Eating Chamber
Thirdfloor:
- Function: Sleeping
- Rooms: Bedrooms

Then you got the blueprints for the building.

Stage 2: Building Stage - 5%-20%
In this stage you build(structure) the interior.

Stage 3: Light Stage - 20%-30%
In this stage you use your findings on light and alignment to create useful and correct lighting in the interior.

Stage 4: Furniture Stage - 30%-45%
In this stage you place the furniture in the rooms, according to the 'how many', alignment and such.

Stage 5: Decorating Stage - 45%-70%
In this stage you place the decoration, like carpets and such.

Stage 6: Detail Stage - 70%-90%
In this stage you add detail, like the glasses on the table, the crap on the desk, etc...

Stage 7: Finishing Stage - 90%-98%
In this stage you look at the whole picture: you look through your checklist you made in the first stage (especially alignment and lighting) and check&see if you think it's OK. If it is, give your claim up for reviewing to sandor. If it is not, change what you will, especially enhance the alignment idea....

Stage 7: Troubleshooting Stage - 98%-100%
sandor(or someone else) reviewed your interior, and found some faults. Correct them, and your interior is finished!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is how I build my interiors, and though I only write much about the first stage, I found it useful to mention the 'other' stages....
