Voice Assembly Status - 23 Nov
Razorwing has supplied me with the same work he did earlier, but with better noise correction than what I did. I'll incorporate those into the ESM soon; with Thanksgiving imminent here in the States it'll be a couple of days. I'll so generate LIPs, put the files in the proper places, and send everything off to sandor at that time.

An interesting note: in WinXP, if you order the files by name, they do not come out in the order of speech, which in this case they should except for the two lines I added. It turns out that in WinXP and Vista, files are not ordered in simple character-by-character fashion any more. Now if there is a group of decimal digits together in a file name, XP groups them sa a number and uses that number in ordering. For example, In Win2K, XXX002.txt comes before XXX01.txt, while is XP, the order is reversed. If like me, you find this confusing, this article tells you how to restore the "natural order" if you're brave enough to edit the registry. Smile

Computer crashed
A few hours after the previous post, my hard disk crashed. The computer's been in the shop since. It looks like the data on the disk is irrecoverable; I have a backup from 10 Oct, but that leaves 6 weeks of crap in the crapper. Sad

As far as the play goes, I don't think much has been lost. Maybe some small corrections I made to dialogue and re-generating LIP files. Fortunately I uploaded things to FF frequently enough that recovery shouldn't be bad once I can mod again. Big Grin

Work wise, my holidays started today. Big Grin

I rearranged the voice files from November 19th (sent by SACarrow), so they would be played in-game (correct race folder and gender).

The scripted conversation works as it should.

The AI will be ready by tomorrow or Wednesday.

Razorwing had sent me cleaner voice files, which I then chopped up to match the lines in the ESP. The work I did to his files is among the work lost. Sad

The AI is almost ready, except for the lightning.
I used an existing spell which I don't like, so I decided to change the setup and this requires more scripting. Smile

Hello all,

SACarrow directed me here on account of the voices done for Khajit, Nord, Bosmer and Upper Class Imperial. You should be able to see them in the threads section. Let me know if more needs to be done for specific missions. If you keep me up to date with developments then I can avoid 'dead time' by supplying bit-by-bit large volumes of voice work that needs to be done.

I understand that Argonian and Breton voices are done (or claimed) so I'll look into what else can be achieved once these are finalised. I'd like to have all (or at least as much as possible) of the voice work done for a particular race before I move onto the next in order to avoid over-committing myself and thereby leaving you up shit creek without a paddle.

It would be good to know what freedom I might be allowed to alter lines to suit characters as I see fit, as well. Leo Gura (who I worked with on the imminent release of Lost Spires v.14) was especially pleased to see a little variation and characterisation. He had me down as a 'Khajit specialist' because he particularly liked what I did with the character 'Tumyr'. Nonetheless, I ended up doing about 13 of the 18 male NPCs so variation is possible. In fact, I enjoy doing bit parts as it allows me the freedom to experiment despite the emotional power offered by larger roles (which I also enjoy). Keep in touch, anyway.
