Merchant NPC's
Howdy

Hopefully this post will clarify if my memory is still working and also provide a simplistic answer to anyone questions regarding the creation of a merchant in Morrowind

If I remember well you can place items in a container and the merchant NPC will have them in inventory to sell

#1 As long as the item ownership is marked as the NPC's is this correct ?

#2 Also if your adding items by changing the quantity to a negative number, those items with negative numbers will respawn daily. SO that if the player buys a hammer from a smith merchant one day and uses it, the next day he can go back to that merchant and buy another hammer (of course this only applies if the merchant has only 1 hammer in inventory)

#3 Everything in the store (wheather it is inside or outside) which has an ownership of the Merchant NPC will be in the Merchants inventory for sale
SO if their aree items on display and you do not want to offer them for sale
you must either

A) script them as "no_pickup"
B) add a guard and place the ownership as the guards

What about training

Can your merchant train and if so is he/she limited to certain types of training or can the Modder change this ?

Hope my memory is good, if not please add to or correct what is incorrect

Thanks Much

Ok, let's see...

#1 Yes, as long as the items/chests ownership is marked as the NPC's.

#2 Yes, and the quantity can be any number, positive or negative.

#3 Yes, and i like B more, so a thief can steal something.

And training: if i remember, you can change that, just click on the number and add any value. And first 3 will be available for training.

Well my memory is still good then

I prefer "A" as well ( you did mean "can not" steal) didn't you ?

With regard to training, please clarify what you mean by "click the number"

I have never actually adjusted the training levels on an NPC before so this is news to me

Thanks Much

Oops, no i meant B, so a thief can steal something.
I played with two thief characters before, and always stole something from a shop. When the guard isn't looking...

For the training see screeny, and just add Training on the Other services.

Big Grin

Opps

I still prefer A but thats fine, I like to use the no pickup on many items and leave only a few for the taking

Ahh yes the box, thats right yes I have never messed with that before but I remember what it is now

Thanks for clarifying
