Slavery in Morrowind

Sounds interesting. The player would have to choose - do you believe the guards, or the ex-slave? Is he a criminal or the victim of a mistake? Confronting the player with a tricky decision is always a good idea...
And if there are consequences a la The Witcher it would be an incredible idea. Wink

Perhaps if you send him back to jail, next time the player gets locked up he's waiting there for you with some of his friends to give you some payback and they start a big fistfight...

Well, what if he was a criminal? Maybe if you let him go he might join up with a group of bandits that go on to massacre a village, but if you send him back to jail the guards execute him and his family commit suicide, or something like that. Something that would really make the player feel like their descision had an impact.

Of course, both sides would have to give convincing arguments, and the player would have to be forced to make a snap descision.

Interesting discussion

Keep in mind this is just one very small aspect of the entire line of quests that could emerge

We need to be genral at first and work the details of each area

The basics:

1) How are we going to free the slaves?

2) What Options will we give them?

3) What do we do with the slaves once the option is chosen?

4) How is the slaves choice made?

5) What do we do with the owner? (former owner)

6) How do we (chance ) the number of slaves who will be arrested, become drug addicts, return to the ir former owner

**Another note*** The total number of slaves we will be dealing with should not be more than 40...we will have to put a cap on claims involving slaves (35 was the Total in Silgrad Morrowind)

Enjoy

If the owner is a smuggler, the player kills them in the normal manner, then takes the key off the corpse and frees them using a modified version of the free slave script from the original. The difference is that we make the slaves then follow the player.

If the owner is a legitimate businessmen, it gets more complicated and we need to flesh that out more. What, do you think, is the punishment for owning slaves? I would think, not much. Probably they just plead ignorance and actually get given money by the government as compensation for their loss of property.

As to where the slaves go, may I suggest a crossover with Beyond Cyrodiil's Black Marsh and Elseweyr for some of them? Actually taking some of the slaves back home would be a lot of fun, and very rewarding for the player.
