Yeah I'll be sure to use that thread, the name was a random one I came up with so I could get the layout right

I'll be gettting back to these shortly, so they'll be some more tmeplates soon

Excellent! Our cities will be looking much more professional and more 'lived in'... =)

I attached a WIP pic of a basic sign, I will also do as you mentioned in the PM IG and try and mae some more unique ones.
The last one I made was using an SI mesh, I cannot recall which one atm though.
That's a good start, though personally I'd like to see a chisel and displacement map effect on the text instead of the standard light-yellow default outer glow. Also, the emblem should affect the green stuff in some way, or cover it completely.

Unless the green moss has grown over the text?

As InsanitySorrow has now switched his attention towards his 'Forever Gaming' website, this claim is now open. It's a fairly simple claim but one that could have a big impact in terms of that extra tweak of quality in our towns and cities. The main goal is to have generic templates set up for types of shops and Inns so that the iconography in BM is consistent and reflects the environment. The 'template' needs to be adjustable so that we can create separate items for variously named shops (and other areas that need signs).
Stormhold is about 98% complete now. Besides a few interior clean-ups, this is one of the things that will put the finishing touches on it besides making our other cities look more 'lived-in'.

Was a decision made about which sign meshes to use for these?
- Ibsen's Ghost - 05-09-2010
No but that's a case in point. I had meant to outline my directions for that. I'd certainly go for a simple weathered, battered old wooden look for Stormhold signs, a definitely Gothic style with metal curves and curlicue (perhaps using SI signs?) for Gideon and a standard crest-shaped set of signs for Soulrest. I don't know the exact meshes but this is the aim in terms of the general look.

Ok, I've looked around NifSkope (for the first time, I might add) a bit and made a very quick re-texture just to get the hang of how this works, and no hitches there. I've also examined all the sign meshes for similarities to your directions, IG, and I think they can accommodate, to a certain extent. Naturally, it'd be more interesting to use customised meshes, such as adding a smooth to the metal fixtures of the Mania sign mesh (attached picture) which would make it a bit more Gothic. I could do this myself but if it's worth doing, it's worth doing properly, so maybe one of the modellers should devote some attention to it.
As for the texture stuff--picking new wood and text effects, creating the emblems and all that--once there are final decisions on the meshes, I can do it. In due time, of course.

Okay, Xae. That's great! We can do this over a period of time anyway and just gradually merge the results. I'd go with the Anvil signs for a place like Chasepoint. Here's an example: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Lelles%27_Quality_Merchandise . Other than this, I'll post up some modelling claims in the open models claims thread and keep you informed as to developments.
Edit - Here's my post: Open Model Claims .
