More volunteers needed? - Sparrow - 08-06-2005
Hi, I would like to volunteer for any claims you have left outstanding. I have not done much in the way of modding so preferably something small to start with. I have had a look at the list of claims left but with all the threads and replies it can become a little difficult to tell what is taken and what isn't.
I do not have any 3d modelling software so models are out, but I know my way around the construction set reasonably well.

To help you around with the threads:
Open claims: General and Open claims: Jarnhald are the threads where you can checkout which claims are still open
The List of claims is an overview so we can see who is working on which claim.
You can use this thread here to claim one of the open interiors (it will be granted - or not granted
- here as well) and either Razorwing or me will update the other threads.And ... there are also open claims for Rodan's Black Light and since we decided to cooperate any help with those is highly appreciated.
If there are any other questions, just ask.

I think it would be great if we got some ideas on how to organize our claims lists. It would help both with organizing the current lists as well as setting up that administration part for the Oblivion claims in the near future. If Quentin would feel okay about working in the Content Manager I could probably whip together something on the website, as full-blown HTML can give a lot more power over the presentation and clarity of the claims lists. Thoughts and opinions are highly welcome

I'll have a look at how we did it in the ancient days. I remember that we used the forum for claiming and had a website with the actual list. It worked very well: you knew where to claim and you check out what was still open.

I would like to claim Jarnhald item 5.4 (cave in -28,3) if that is still free. Did you have any plans about what it is likely to contain? I notice it is behind the Ancient Gate: what is/was the purpose of the Ancient Gate in ES lore?
Stupid question: How do you see what cell (the cell numbers) while you are in-game?

Claims are almost always made publicly on the forum, so others know directly if a claim has been taken. If they?re done through PM:ing Quentin Fortune or similar then I trust that information gets posted on the forum. So there should hopefully not be many misunderstandings.
When you work in the CS you have a window that lists all cells in the active esm-esp files. One of the tabs show the cell coordinates, which are either Interior or exterior coordinates. If you click the coordinate tab, the lists get sorted according to that, so it?s easy to scroll down to the exterior cell you want to view. Also, when viewing the exterior world in the world view window, the coordinates are printed in the head of the window.
The Ancient Gate used to be a dunmer defensive installation against Nord invasions. It fell into disuse after the Empire conquered Morrowind. Nowadays it may or may not be a waystation for Imperial trade going from Morrowind to Skyrim (we?re unsure). If you?re able to tie into that, that?d be cool, if not then that?d be good too. I don?t think the Ancient Gate is based on Elder Scrolls lore.

I meant in-game, while playing Morrowind. I was able to locate this spot in-game due to its proximity to the Ancient Gate. I like to "get a feel" for the area I am working in.

I picked up the Nord connection while reading a story written by you (very good :goodjob: ) on the history of the region; I am thinking of different ways to tie in some part of the history in some way (still going over ideas in my head). Am I right in assuming that the side that the cave is on is on the old "Nord side"?

If you select the ancient gate in the cs and press "T" then Skyrim is to the west and Morrowind to the east, though technically Morrowind is supposed to continue quite a distance westward. We'll probably look into that for Oblivion, but for the current mod I think we'll just assume a "tounge" of Skyrim territory extends there without explaining it too deeply.

Open up the console, type TG orToggleGrid, press <Enter> and you should see the coordinates displayed on the screen.
