I am not posting this on the elder scrolls site because frankly it would be locked within one minutes time, but anyways back to the topic. I believe we could actually put meshes from morrowind into oblivion if we had the software to do so, even though petey said no. You see I am pretty sure that if you never claim that you used the copywritten mesh and altered it then technically nobody would get mad and because you altered it slightly it becomes yours, kinda like when you see a brand name knockoff of something. Also in this matter if by "We do not and will not get involved in the policing of the Oblivion Mod community. However, in no way, shape, or form can we allow people to talk about taking copyrighted and proprietary materials from other games and using them for mods for Oblivion." he means we cant even have references to things of other games such of oh say "Wold of Warcraft" then why would he not lock such topics on the forums. So my basic suggestion is to use the base meshes from morrowind buildings to improve speed however up the polygons , modify it to be yours and use files from the retexture mods while giving credit to the people who made the textures. Of course at this time i belive there is not a stable enough tool to support the mesh +the havoc physics to make it all possible yet, but hopefully in time the guy who made nifskope and such will be able to create a update that will help out.
I hope this thread doesnt create any anger or confusion, I'm just hoping that I am correct on this issue so it will vastly speed up the mods progress.

I'm not entirely closed to the idea, but it does sound possibly a bit sketchy, and this community has taken a fairly hard line on copyrights. If this was legally workable, it would be a huge benefit to armor and Telvani conversion, maybe also to creatures. (Armor system changes already necessitate that we join the pauldrons to the cuirass, which is a model-modification.)

I am in the advertising industry to tell you the truth nobody seems to really know where to draw the line these days as far as how far off does it have to be for it to be legal. But I believe if we improve the meshes and use the better textures from mods or your own personalized ones bethesda would let this mod slide no problem. It is in implementing other games direct names that may get you into trouble, such as the "middle earth mod" for morrowind. That mod kept all the same names of races people and story line, and thats why i think that mod had such large legal issues. Where as in Oblivion you would make your own Vvardenfel which is already on the map, and lore already somewhat implemented. So basically I think everybody is taking this quote of petes to seriously, it is a serious matter however I believe he's just covering his bases for those who would wish to turn oblivion into a game like "Doom 3" or something.

The vital point of Razorwing's article is to show how he uses Bethesda's models to create his own.
It is an official statement of Bethesda that it is explicitly forbidden to use Morrowind content for Oblivion. They have nothing against recreating their models, I have a statement from Pete (Hines) about that when I asked him with Oom's Hlaalu House project in mind. So if you want the stuff - make the stuff.
And I personally don't care, if there might be a chance that Bethesda will eventually let it slip. Silgrad's stance on this is simple: no copyright violation. Period.
Don't get me wrong, I understand how you came up with the idea and, to be honest, I thought of it myself for various times, especially when I saw the limited options the new content offers for an interior designer.
Nevertheless, the answer is no and since it won't be you who'll get the post from the lawyers who'll jump for a copyright infringement case like vultures for a fresh carcass I hope you'll understand and respect the decision.
The server on which Silgrad, Vvardenfell, Blacklight, Skyrim and more than 20 other sites and projects are hosted is located in Germany, provided by a German company, bought by Germans so ... it's completely under German law. And recently some lawyer societies have specialized in copyright infringements ... and they don't even need to have a mandate from Bethesda to throw a sue threat in the ring and simply proving your innocence can take a lot of time and money.

We just have to make them ourselves, they werent that intricate

By all means, avoid a potential copyright infringement. It is not worth it.
And from a practical stand point... the graphics detail is significantly better in Oblivion.... why use dated "low-res" objects.... it would cheapen our project. That was the motivation behind a lot of the models and objects created during the past few years...
