VW - Side Quests - drmccoy - 02-09-2009
Alright, I'd like this to be a little summary threat of sidequests. If you have any ideas any requests, just post them in here. By now, we are having two side quests:
Earning The Trust
Short Overview: When the player has talked to the Chief, an Actor becomes active (i.e. "spawns"), which will be wandering the middle Island. He will look a bit different than the usual hunters, which are roaming the Islands aswell. If the player talks to him, he refuses to have any business with him. Just because the other inhabitants have decided to trust him does not mean that the old Bosmer will accept their decision and act accordingly to it. He'll tell you, that no outsider is able to handle to bow as well as a Bosmer marksman from the Abecian Isles. Being a master himself, he dares the player to show him his abillities. So first of, he gives him a special arrow and brings him to a place next to a rock. The player has to hit a orb brazier on the crazy man's house from there with that arrow and a fire will start. If you move away from that spot and shoot the arrow, the quest will not proceed and if you lose the arrow, you'll have to talk him into giving you another one. If the player managed to hit the brazier, the NPCs is only little impressed (it's not too far away) and brings the player to the waterfall rock on the middle Island, telling him to hit a fungus on a tree on the other side, which will drop down if the player hits it. Same procedure as with the brazier. If the player manages to hit it, the NPC starts to like the player, offering his teaching in marksmanship. Also, he gives the player a number of magical arrows.
The Cursed Bow
(We still need the bow model for that one) !!

It's nice you are starting on the sidequests.
About the curser bow quest:
In the orginal quest the player have to brew a potion to get the crazy man's memory back. But can the player harvest the plants? With the green pact on the islands?

About the bow quest: do you guys think we really need a new bow or should we simply use the valenwood elven bow model? I don't know, just a question if a new model is really necessary. You decide.

I think you can use the original one,but if windsurfer is still here,then you can make a new model.The time is important.

I think that at some point we should just add in the Realswords Bosmer Pack. Or was that what you were talking about anyway?

Yeah i have an idea for a side quest, You told me to make a shipwreck
why not make a quest were maybe a bosmer spotted the Shipwreck and asked you to go their and get some informatioN?

Never read this. Love the earning the trust quest. I could make a new bow model. Tried before and failed. The model is still in the master. Everything worked apart from the animation which didn't quite match with the players hand. I can do it properly this time. Any concepts?

Well .. write me a quest summary, Omber, and I'll script the quest for ya in no time, no problem.
About earning the trust, yes it turned out to be actually a quite fitting area for such a contest, and with the new collision model, I'm positive we can manage to accomplish this quest!
An individual bow would definitly be the top, only if you'd like to animate it though. I guess a certain "wood-theme" bow with maybe some greet metal ornaments would be fine? I'm not the greatest in concept art (really, I suck at it), but I might give you an expression of my thoughts.
Edit: Maybe something like this? I stole the picture from Ebay i have to admit, slightly changed it to fit the green orbs. Just kindof the way, at least that's what it looks like in my imagination.
