- Imperial names - think ancient Rome (Sirollis, Mercurio, Vestri). Adding -ius or -io to the end usually does the trick.
- Nord names - they are often scandinavian and particularly Icelandic (Hulfgar, Hrothgar), but can be german as well. (Reinhardt, Karl) They tend to have a description or nickname tagged along (Hulfgar the Bloody, Reinhardt Red-Spear).
- Breton names - they are usually French-influenced with a touch of general fantasy (Frande Yvienne, Thetri Frenne, Paurand, Robertie). If you pick a French name you'll seldom go wrong.
- Redguard names - these are the most bland and hard to define; they are often simple names, general fantasy, and sometimes have a Brithish touch (Glannah, Raccan, Lesley).
- Dunmer names - civilized dark elves like to use these formations in the names: [Ll] [Th] [Aa] and [Hl]. As in Thellwyn, Hlervu, Hlaalo, et cetera. Ashlander names are very different, and tend to be long and repetetive and almost feel daedric (Zababa Zenammu, Ashahulu Ashurnasaddas).
- Altmer - high elven names are often eloquent and refined. High elves are often named similar to how elves are named in general fantasy; if you're influenced by Tolkien in naming them, you'll probably be spot on. (Qorwyneen, Ciralind, Olquaril)
- Bosmer - where high elves often have long and stilized names (Quanadorilia), wood elves usually have short and arcaic names, like the famous Gaenor from Mournhold. They usually have two syllables, like Meldil or Bolring. They are particularly fond of using [ae] in their names.
- Orcish names - first and last names are usually one syllable, like Grash or Trok, with the addition that before the last name are the prefixes gra- (for female) and gro- (for male). An Orc's last name is the first name of their father.
- Argonian names - they are often either nonsensical, short twin names (An-Waz, Meer-Wah, Seewul) or reminiscant of native american names (Skink-in-Tree's-Shade, Only-He-stands-there, Tounge-Toad)
- Khajiiti names - usually nonsensical names, and often twin names separated by a ['] which sets them apart from argonians. Like many cat names, they like the letter S. It also helps if the name can be hissed. (Raksada, Jo'Basha)
