Fiction, The Lay of King Borgas |
|
Here is the first of the Skyrim books I'm writing. This one is about
King Borgas who, according to legend, died on the Wild Hunt in 1E 369.
The Lay of King Borgas
Beware the horns of eventide when autumn leaves do fall
Ne'er answer in thought or foolish deed
When the evil horns do call
'Tis said the Huntsman calls the Hunt to lure a man away
If e'er they ride the immortal run
Fore'er their steps will stray
King Borgas once did hear them ring within his walls of stone
And forth he rode to join the Hunt
And ne'er did he ride home.
Long he rode that darkened night, the White Stag he did spy
Forth he sent his hounds to hunt
And followed hard their cry
Hours sped beyond his ken, he saw no dawn that night
His eyes were on the spoor he sought
Ne'er missing morning's light
He tired at last and looked around, his dogs he called to horn
His eyes searched vainly in the sky
For sight of morning's sun.
Again the horns did sound and once again he turned to go
He soon forgot his worries
As they forged through rain and snow
When searchers came upon him he was lying neath a tree
His horse beside him dying
What evil could this be?
His hounds lay all around him, they would run with him no more
Their paws all torn and bloodied
They had run their final spoor
His horn they found clutched in his hand, ne'er more would it sound
Clove in two, by force of breath
He bore it to the ground
They say they found the tracks of a great stag beside his head
Perhaps he rides the Wild Hunt still
With the rest of the Undead.

Hello Galrina,
somehow your excellent book has been inspiring and so I'd like to direct your attention to my post in the literature thread.
If you like it, feel free to use it.

Thanks again for the kind words. I can't promise though that all of
your writings will lead to another ballad ... but at least I can try.
I played in an Irish folk band for almost three years and although my
musical 'career' went along the rocking road, I'm still fond of that
kind of music and still play the old songs.
Greetings
Quentin

I wonder if the radiant ai would lend itself easly to the concept of a
minstrile going from one town to the next after a day or 2 stay in each

I play it ten times... very good... VERY GOOD!
wow, this mod community is full of talent...
by the way, is the huntsman Hircine? or another powerful being?
....cause I do have an idea of a "huntsman" ...very freaky, and yet not
out of place...

King Borgas died in 1st Era 369. At this point I don't know if the Wild
Hunt still runs or is nothing more than legend. Just another
possibility for us to look into.
I'm still slogging through the lore sites collecting bits and pieces
here and there. hehe.. It's actually kinda funny because I have surfed
those sites soo many times, yet each time I pick up a new little tidbit
that I hadn't noticed before.

Actually that's something I want to tackle with the RAI. From what I
read in the interviews I think its possible to make NPCs wander bigger
distances on the map, which was a nightmare in MW because of the riggid
cell structure. I was thinking about merchants travelling between
cities, who can offer you a job to accompany and protect them. Also I
like to have hunters in the woods or alchemists gathering reagents. A
wandering minstrel is also a good idea.

this will be one of many things we will have to tinker with and see
what happens when we get our hands on the cs. if we can pull this off
my gawd the possabilities are endless.
