Thanks, Siegfried, for that info. That substantiates what addiktive's thread hinted at.
Smokindan, I tried to save your plugin using the v.a06 esm, and got the
goofy retry..retry..retry messages. I tried to merge it into v.a06 and
got the message "1SKxxSDxTjernagelPublicHouse.esp: Top-level record is
not a group".
Then I loaded a06.esm and your plugin, but didn't make it active. It
loaded fine. So I made a copy of the PublicHouse interior and saved
that. That saved fine!
Then I tried to save the copied int to the a06.esm. That saved fine! But when I opened up the a06.esm in the CS, I had two PublicHouse int's. (I should have caught that
Tried to make another esp that puts the interior stuff into the right int and deletes the copy. - ctd)
Then I loaded a fresh copy of a06.esm and the copy of the PubHouse int
as active. (The CS makes 2 copies of the House.) I moved the "stuff" -
all but the shell, door and northmarker - from the copy to the
original, lined up the stuff and tried to save. Got the retry..retry
prob.
So I deleted the Pub House COPY (would have had to do that anyway) and tried to save. Retry..Retry
So I figured, since the plugin saved fine originally, something in the
plugin had to be causing the problem. If you'll remember in TES3, we
always had door linking and npc doubling problems when several people
were working on the same mod. This is essentially a tweaked version of
that CS! I found a couple of doubled doors yesterday when I was putting
the latest version together. So I deleted the teleport on the door in
the mod today as my best first guess. It saved!!
Then I merged the test esp into the a06.esm. Good.
Loaded it in the CS. Good!
Checked out the Pub (Now you guys know where that word comes from
); everything was in place and there was only one Pub.
So the moral of this story is: uncheck the teleport. I'll put up a new
version tonight, with the doors unlinked. I'll relink them when the
int's are complete. - and that's all there is, Folks. |

IMPORTANT FOR MODDERS - by Rancen
Go to MyGames > Oblivion > ConstructionSet.ini
And change the following settings:
bForceCheckOutOnRefFix=1
bFixPersistenceOnRefInit=1
bFixBadLocRefsOnInit=1
This automatically fixes a number of bugs after editing.

YES!! Unchecking the teleport worked!!
Thanks so much GB and addiktive
Is it Ok if I mod dependent on the .ao6 .esm? (as I've already done about half the Pub.)

The latest version of Haerter's Gap - alpha 08. The esm (for modding) has no teleport; the esp (for playing) does.
Smokindan, I put your work in the a08 version. I'd prefer that you work
off that one (you can add, delete and move stuff around in your work
esp, and it'll update when I merge the files (I hope!)
addiktive, thanks for the ini changes. Everyone, listen to addiktive.
And, addiktive, you can use anything in my rant above that you find useful.
TOYB, still available are:
Clyde's hides - seems someone offered to help with it, but I can't find
the post (btw, we need the riekling!) another edit: Found it!
Ghostruler offered to help with this.
The Imperial Barracks (Watchingthewheels took it, but I haven't seen
him in awhile, so it's back up for grabs.) edit: Err, hold off on this
one - Watchingthewheels was around lately. Let me pm him first.
Ghostruler has Moldstad's Provisions, but he hasn't checked in lately. I'll PM him.
We also need the 3 excise offices. If you think you can make an int for
the Imperial one that I slapped together and you fixed up, be my guest.
Also, did you have a chance to check out those doorstones? I think I said the first one was 2x2x2, but actually it's 1x1x1.
And now it's time for an hour of RL before bed. G'night guys.

Thank you very much to addiktive and the UL team for their helpful feedback on the exterior predicament
Also great work GB finding the error with the doors
The Haerter Gap Fort is shaping up great guys, but I have two comments,
first could Greybeard clean the exterior vertex shading up where
statics used to be, and put down shading in the new locations, and
second could someone fill up the empty rooms in the pub?
Also I think once FLESH has finished up his trees they would look really nice around HG.
BTW I'll claim the Imperial Excise Office, its the one in front of the gap right? What exactly do you need there.

Also about the door stones I can't get them into the CS proply, could you make me an .esp with them in?

Then TOYB has the Imperial Customs and Excise Office.
Siegfried, would you like Clyde's Hides?
Smokindan, I have all of the versions anyway, and I've got notes on how I can merge -er- whatever, so use your best judgment.
Seems there's more afoot than just the door teleports.

Here's another version of the Public House.
Greybeard: Please don't merge this yet it's not finished.
Comments appreciated. The rent dialogue, NPCs, pathgrid and more clutter still needs to be added.
The bottom two rooms will be for Tjernagel and co. as a home away from
home, the top left room (looking down on the pub. house) will be the
prostitute's room (it has curtains) and the top right room will be
available for rent.

Smokindan, don't get excited - I'll look, but not -er- merge.
TOYB - it's sent, and again sorry about the mixup on those stones.
I have a possible addition to the mod. I'm going through each cell now,
doing the final checks and tweaks, and I noticed a place about half-way
up the mountain that would accommodate a cave very well.
Also, xifr has agreed to do the bookcover textures if I can get him
some concept art. Siegfried, could you do the honors? (Give the project
to someone or put it up in the concept art area?)
And finally, I'll be out of town (and out of internet) Thurs thru Sat.
I'll put up a new alpha tonight and then see you again after church on
Sunday.
edit: Siegfried, I noticed Boatload's offer in the concept art thread and suggested he give a try at the book covers.

I think Psychotic's cave that he is doing would be great. It has two
parts (interiors) so would be ideal for the HG teaser. Check it out in
the Dungeon Claims board.

The latest version (alpha 09) of Haerter's Gap is out.
This version has the finished landscape, ext statics
(except the possible cave entrance), proper shadows around the statics,
final tweak of the surface texture, and pathgrids. Of course, all of
this is subject to change.
I expect the same saving problems will occur for some of you because I can't find anything amiss in the esp or esm.
Smokindan, thanks for the head's up. I'll see if Psychotic is interested.

Here's another version of the Pub.
This time it includes Tjernagel and Janine the Buxom, our homely wench.
Would you like dialogue, GB? And, if so, what do you want. Maybe
rumours about a cave near HG... Also, do you want some more NPCs?
I think the int. is all but complete.
Comments welcome
On another note, perhaps we should make a new thread on the ESF about
HG and promote it a bit more. People who have made the claims could get
CS or in-game screenies and post them for added excitement.

What do you guys think of my work so far on an ESF topic? Whoops, didn't notice all the white in the pic. Ignore that
Since I posted the above Pub. house I've added services to Tjernagel. I
don't want to clutter this topic with attachments so I won't

Very nice work Smokindan, but some more screens would be nice. Are we including Psychotic's cave?
Here is my version of Clyde's. It doesn't have the proprieter, or his
Riekling (we really need to find a texturer who can do this). Any
suggestions for other things to add to the interior?

Here is the final of the Imperial Office.
For the doors to match up properly, you need to merge my latest fix as
well, which has the nessecary changes to the Ex of the Imp office.
Siegfried, I have posted in so many differnt places the Riekling Resource file, but just because I am so nice here it is again, http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=5279
Also I think that we shouldn't use Psychotic's cave, but an Ice cave and utilise this quest I made(The White Witch) with some slight changes.

I've seen it, but it just doesn't look enough like the BM Rieklings, I
suppose they could be place holders, but they look low quality, and
they need to use the Orcish heads. |

We'll have to use it for the moment if we want to make it by Sep 1st,
unless you can find a texturer whch are at the moment close to
non-existent.

Here's the final for the Public House.
It just needs dialogue and maybe a bit of tweaking to the AI.
Also, as I'm working on an ESF topic. Are the Barracks and Excise
offices the same thing? Just so I can group the quests into what
interiors they belong to
EDIT: I think the thread is almost done. Does anyone know Sieg's email
so I can send him the Word file with the code and stuff that's needed?
Or perhaps Greybeard, as he is in charge of HG?

Guess this teaches me not to leave for a few days!
Great job everyone!
Before I can answer very many questions, I'll have to merge all the work you've done, add the teleports and have a walk-around.
A few comments:
Smokindan, I like your Skyrim announcement - both the concept and the
presentation. If you like, I'll take a bunch of screenies when I do my
walk-around. Or, if everyone wants to do his own, I'll put up the
merged file.
While I like Psychotic's cave, I'm afraid it doesn't really fit
aesthetically with the top of the Jerall mountains. I think it would
fit in better at a lower elevation (perhaps on the road to Riften?) So,
we'll need a smaller Ice Cave to fit with TOYB's quest (good concept,
by the way.)
Sure, TOYB, Take the tower heading toward Morrowind (that's the
southern one.) I'm still hoping that Corwyn will have a bit of Nord
architecture finished in time to put it in for the Sept release.
And again, (though I guess this should rightly come from Siegfried) thanks so much for all your hard work.
edit: and now I'd better get to modding

Welcome back GB
I guess you're talking about the PM I sent you?
Anyway, watchinwheels got back to me when I sent him a PM on ESF.
He said:

dont
worry I havent forgotten, but I have been on holday this week and I'm
moving house next week so there may be a delay. I WILL get it done, but
if it needs to be done before the next fortnight you may want to give
it someone else.

The "guardtower" is the census and excise office to Morrowind. There
are 3 Dunmer guards. The 1st guard has a skooma "problem" and the 2nd
has a quest (to be determined.) - these live in the barracks and
alternate shifts guarding the office.
The ranking guard has a very bad attitude (the excise officer) - but
grudgingly gives info on Morrowind (for a price?) He lives on the upper
level of the tower and works on the lower.
Personally, I'd prefer a better building, but the Redoran statics
aren't nearly ready and I couldn't find any castle statics that were
"poor" and small enough to work. Hope this gives you enough info. If
not, we'll brainstorm a bit. |
|
07.08.2006 02:43 |
|
|
|
I'll make it two guards, and a redoran diplomat. I will make thre
levels, top level will be guard quarters, middle level will be office
and the basement will be the officials quarters.
I think the official will also have a pet dog,

The barracks is/was the building to the west. If you like, we could
move them a touch closer together and connect the int's. Might give you
a bit more room for creativity. Otherwise, I could just eliminate that
building in the ext. |

Greybeard: When you've got the latest .esm up (or would you like me to mod on V9?) what claim would you like me to mod?
I can probably get the .esp off watchinwheels (of what he's done so
far) and I think ghostruler had the provisions shop. Or would you like
me to do dialogue/RAI?
