Deeza's Big Ol' Black Marsh Literature List
Right. Basically this is a work in progress where I try to find all of the links to books which were written for the Black Marsh project and are still held in the Silgrad Tower Archives. KuKulza in particular contributed a phenomenal amount of work in this area, and I think as a tribute to him we should put at least some of his books in the mod. Many of them are very lore-heavy and extremely useful resources, they just need converting into a format that can be inserted into the game. HOWEVER, and this is a big HOWEVER, a lot of them were never properly edited. They contain spelling and grammar errors which need to be looked over very carefully. Some people at the time even suggested he rewrite some bits.

So here we go.......

BM - Savant's Notes on Black Marsh
TRULY ESSENTIAL READING. This is a magnificent piece of work by KuKulza that sets lore for all over Black Marsh whilst still sounding like a tourist guide.

Vvar/BM - Slave Tails
A chilling folk story told by former Argonian slaves... by KuKulza

Vvar/BM - Orphans of Arnesia
An epic fictional account about the Arnesian war. Some people wanted to change the end, thought it was too depressing. What do you think? The end is a bit too random for me. by KuKulza

BM - Saltrice Massacre
Another Argonian slave folk story by KuKulza about how a Hist Tree frees them from their oppressors. Needs a new name though, I think.

BM - Interview With an Argonian
A fantastic series of interviews with characters from Black Marsh - the one with a Naga bandit is hilarious! by KuKulza

BM - Kleptocracy
A book about how the Archeins the Imperials allowed to run Black Marsh are pushing it to the brink of disaster... non-fiction by KuKulza

BM - The Legion's Account of the Arnesian War
An impartial account of the last big war between Morrowind and Black Marsh by KuKulza. In three volumes.

Vvar - Morrowind's New Generation
A good guide to why House Dres split up after the death of the Tribunal and abolition of slavery. by KuKulza

Inside K'elinga
A creepy book about carnivorous plants by Ye Olde Bard. Genuinely spine-chilling!

Flora & Fauna- Vol 2
Flora & Fauna of Argonia
Posts from these two threads need merging into a single book about plants and maybe one about animals as well.

Community Literature
An interesting creation myth (possibly) by Brian S and a useful guide to defending your caravan by Coinneach

BM- The Battle of Argonia
A book about how the Cyrodiil Dynasty conquered Black Marsh way back in the First Era. by KuKulza

The Azguu'trak Remnant
An epic series about the Argonians and the Hist. Possibly unfinished - this needs a LOT of editing.

ArgoniaLit.- Year 397 of the Third Era
A series of diaries about the end of the Arnesian War. KuKulza wrote TONS about this stuff - the guy was a regular writing machine!

Argonian royal court & kleptocratic regimes
More about the regime in Black Marsh. Needs rewriting, perhaps someone could do it from the Royal Court's perspective? Needless to say, by KuKulza

Argonia lit.- Imperials' Guide to Argonian Tribes
More from KuKulza. An Imperial idiot tries to make sense of the Argonian tribes...

Argonia lit.- The War Path
The Arnesian War from a perspective this time sympathetic to the Argonians. Nice. by KuKulza

ATTACHED TO THIS POST:

My own Paatru (frog-people Argonian) creation myth
My own Hist creation myth (or mathematical record of the origins of the world)

Whew! I think that's everything I know of. We actually have a really impressive library there. It just needs care and attention before going into the game, and then the literature side of things is basically done!

I don't know if this is entirely appropriate here as this piece of writing specifically relates to my 'Total Immersion NPC' WiP but, for what it's worth, here's the diary I wrote for 'Anaster Marrowmir', the Redguard 'voodoo' practitioner and occasional Buccaneer: Diary of a Redguard Necromancer - Anaster Marrowmir .

Besides the 'voodoo' link stated earlier, Anaster's love interest is intended to be the Argonian lady, Froch-Ma (aka 'Pulls-the-Strings'). Once I worked on implementing the character, I'd hoped to dramatise this relationship further....one point of note being that Anaster will be damn ugly but Froch-Ma, with her Argonian perceptions, will regard him as the most beautiful non-Argonian she's ever met. Froch-Ma may well be a more instrumental character in BM than in ST if my plans come to fruition.

I just added book covers for these so that they can now finally make an appearance in-game. To do this, I had to split them up into categories and assign book covers and icons to them. So, for reference sake, here is the full list so far:

GUIDE - Savant's Notes on Black Marsh*, On the Defense of Trade Caravans. (BMQuarto11 & icon5)

FICTION (inc. folk tales) - Slave Tails, Orphans of Arnesia, Saltrice Massacre, Interview with an Argonian, The War Path, Return of the Slave, The River-Sunk Child, Trials of the Eternal Champion: Murkwood. (BMOctavoFiction & icon5)

HISTORICAL - The Legion's Account of the Arnesian War, Morrowind's New Generation*, The Battle of Argonia*, Year 397 of the Third Era*, Iulius Rottmere - A man and his plantation, The Argonian Account Vols.1-4*, The Battle of Kungomabog*, Notable Governors of Black Marsh*, Court Without a King*, A Brief History of the Cantemiric Velothi, The Azguu'trak Remnant. (BMFolioHistory & icon13)

FACTUAL & CURRENT AFFAIRS JOURNALS - Kleptocracy, Biography of Plutarchus Naso, Imperials' Guide to Argonian Tribes, Curses of Empire, Encyclopedia Palusnigricans, The Unauthorised Biography of Lord Rethan Dres. (Folio12 & icon1)

CUSTOMS & TRADITIONS - Traditions of the People of the Root - vol.XVI, Bestial Bestiary*, Manifesto of the Khnaten Liberation Army, Royal Court Faction Book. (CrocFolio & icon4)

NATURAL WORLD - Inside K'elinga, Flora & Fauna or Argonia Vols.1-2. # (BMFolioNature & icon10)

BESTIARY (UNNATURAL WORLD) - Majesty of the Rootworms, Monster of the Deep: the Swamp Leviathan Examined. (BMQuartoBestiary & icon11)

MYTH - Community Literature*, Hist Creation Myth, Paatru Creation Myth, The Here of Nothing: Birth of Argonia, Mystery of the Hist, The Legend of Haynekhtnamet, Who were the Marsh Elves? (BMFolioMyth & icon6)

RELIGION - The True Account of Saint Roris (Earlier Deeds) (Folio9 & icon9)

SPECIALIST BOOKS & OTHERS - Diary of Anaster Marrowmir* (BMLNOctavo11), Root Ritual and Bhuru (BMFolioBhuru & icon6)

* Denotes that this book is not yet added but is selected for a particular cover.
# Denotes that the text does not match the description - probably one of DZ's WiPs.

You said that there were spelling and grammar errors - I could look these through if you gave me them in a text format (word, notepad etc) and give them a bit of proofreading and/or edit them

...if ya want!!

cheers, MC

EDIT:or does that .RAR contain the files?

I'd wait for Deeza to reply before doing this. He'll probably have this nailed. Plus if I get the time to take a look then there won't be a mis-spelling in sight. I never mis-spell unless quoting something that's been mis-spelled!

That said, Deeza might need a hand, I guess. You should be able to see these books in the links in the posts above but, again, I'd wait for Deeza.

Hi! I'm still getting back up to speed, so sorry about the lateness of the response. It's a little hard for me to remember exactly what I did, as I did all this months ago and had to stop modding completely for a prolonged time since then...

As far as I can recall, almost all of the books have already been fully edited have been placed into the CS by me and spell-checked (although it's always a good idea for someone else to check it as well).

I will be away for the next few days - in the meantime I think it would be a good idea if someone who has the time did this, as well as check to see if any of the book IDs I entered are placeholders for text to be inserted later (as I recall I was very rushed whilst doing this job, so looking out for any mistakes like this is necessary).

I'll be looking over it myself when I get back, but I think in all matters of proofreading it's important that more than one person does this.
