Hla Oad concept
although Ixosis had claimed this, he has not been actively present since November 24, 2005.... and had done nothing on this little village... I have PMed him but no response... if he is lurking but doing nothing, shame on him

alright... this is Hla Oad as of TES3:
it is in a swmp and not very well placed for getting shipments around the Bitter Coast and to Balmora...

I think Hla Oad should be at the mouth of the Odai river... it should recieve trade from Balmora to mainland, but also have some coming from Gnaar Mok, and also, is the first checkpoint to Balmora for ships going up the Odai
Odai Plateau is the secind, the third is Balmora itself... Hla Oad is not a stronghold, it is a minor trade village... and it and Gnaar Mok are also smuggling ports... and both under the control of Cammona Tong

so then it will look like this:

Yep. Looks good. The move especially makes sense, though it might throw a couple people playing the game for the first time. But hey, they'll get used to it.

That always annoyed me to. Smart move.

Dont worry too much about the lore location. Just look at Cyyrodil's local flora and Fauna

What did they do, put Morrowind stuff in? [Hopeful even though it wouldn't make sense]

well i just thought....
hmm... Hlaalu is a merchantile House... they don't rule by having lots of land or wealthy mines...
they rule by having strategic trading points and controlling the trading of the hides, the ore, the crops...
of course they do engage in such trades but their House is more merchant...
and since they need strategic trading posts... why put a port in the middle of a swamp?
put it at the mouth of a river where goods can go up river to Balmora or out to sea and to the mainland...

To Vrenir: Its supposed to be a jungle, now its Eurapean foresty. Improvement in my opinion

To Ku: How about we just make a new town at the end of the river instead of moving Oad. Though it is more work to make another city

Id be willing Big Grin

Yeah, the forest thing was a good call. It fits the whole medieval thing a lot better.

I think that we should keep the new place as Hla Oad and forget that the old one was different. No more new settlements please. Do you realize how many towns we've already created in a six year interum? Granted, they're all pretty cool, but it's a lot of change, and a lot of addition to a game that may end up needing to be on a smaller scale. (Let's not talk about the scale thing again; I just needed to mention it as a note of possible caution.)

I like Hla Oad being moved better than a new town there

but like always, I like to see...
a good reason, and a convincing arguement

when shown those, I am more likely to say yes...
so, I am awaiting a good reason and convincing arguement....
try to cover:
1. difficulty of modding work
2. realistically for the Hlaalu
3. general plans for that town

that would be pretty good... now lets hear it

the Bitter Coast region both on the mainland and on Vvardenfell is all swamp...

i just think since the Hlaalu is the most prosperous and the most Imperial tied they would want to increase trade with the Imperials.
Making so
A.The dunmer become independent on the Imperials, letting them reclaim morrowind
B.Puts a stranglehold on other house's trade power ( Nooo telvanni!)
C. They have more settlements! During a house war that would be useful

Also Hla Oad never struck me as a place the Hlaalu care about. Its just residential

A. the Hlaalu want to keep their relationship with Imperials, not being free to be ripped up by Redoran or Telvanni or whatever, but not controlled so that they cannot have their own trading system and relations without Imperial
B. if we move Hla Oad to a favorable location, not only will it a be trading village, but a dry/cleaner residential area
c. as I said, they are optimizing their holdings, they are not looking to make lots of new towns, they are looking for strategic points and fortifying them
