List of Factions
THIS POST HAS BEEN TAKEN OVER BY IBSEN'S GHOST FOR FACTION INFORMATION

The following is a list of assigned details to each of the factions in alphabetical order. I expect that these details may change during the process of deciding upon the various different details for each faction, so stay tuned for updates and developments that will affect the interior claims and other details. Bear in mind that the words in capitals beginning with SPECIALIST refer to out-of-house resources that can be found here: CLAIM: Armour and Weapon Assignations to Factions :

FACTION LISTINGS

1. Arnesian Velothi (elsewhere described as House Dres Syndicate and includes Cantimiric Velothi)
CURRENT WEAPONRY - Kriss Daggers (angular broad kriss, angular kriss and curvy kriss dagger), meat cleavers.
ARMOUR - Glass Cuirass, Robe1.
SPECIALIST ARMOUR - Ghogiel's Bonemould Armour or Avrenec's Elven Armour.
SETTLEMENTS - Tenmar Wall (base), Gideon, Stormhold, Soulrest.
RACES - Dunmer.
RELATIONS - Hostile towards the Ka'Pura.
FINAL DECISIONS - Armour - Bonemold. Weapons - Kriss Daggers.

2. Bhuru Shaman (includes the Mages Guild quests, voodoo and necromancy. The actual 'Mages Guild' works with these but is really just a more Imperial-accessible version of the real shaman)
CURRENT WEAPONRY - (if needed) rootworm bonebow, seruit, shikah.
SPECIALIST WEAPONRY - David Whitefang's blasphemous staff.
ARMOUR - warmagerobe1.
SETTLEMENTS - Pholmolo (base), Stormhold, Gideon, Soulrest, Kulu-Hees, Hixinoag, Go-Ja Morgoa & Kangumabog.
RACES - An Argonian race variant using COM's headsets.
RELATIONS - Very friendly with the Ka'Pura. Indifferent towards the Arnesian Velothi and most are likely to be hostile towards the Trillium Magnata if they discover their identity.
FINAL DECISIONS - Robes - WarmageRobe1. Weapons - Blasphemous Staff, a couple of Trollf's staffs + daggers.

3. Fighters Guild.
CURRENT WEAPONRY - Dragoon, Seruit, Kriss Daggers (angular broad kriss, angular kriss and curvy kriss dagger).
SPECIALIST WEAPONRY - Madcat 221's Meteoric Iron Weapons.
ARMOUR - Marsh Iron Cuirass, Tarnished Steel.
SETTLEMENTS - Gideon or Soulrest (base), Stormhold & Chasepoint.
RACES - All but mainly Imperial, Redguard and Orcs.
RELATIONS - Hostile towards any remnants of the Blackwood Company.
FINAL DECISIONS - Armour - Combination of vanilla steel, tarnished steel and marsh iron cuirass. Weapons - Meteoric Iron.

4. Ka'Pura Tribe (includes Khanaten Liberation Army)
CURRENT WEAPONRY - Barbed Leaf, Jungle Short Bow, Kazhan Axe/Bow/Club, Seruit, Shikah.
SPECIALIST WEAPONRY - DungBeetle's Clanfear Shield.
ARMOUR - crochelm (and croc armour if it gets made).
SPECIALIST ARMOUR - Ghogiel's Dreugh Armour (and possibly helmets), Lexton's Scale Armour or Koniption's Iguana Armour.
SETTLEMENTS - Go-Ja Morgoa (base), Pholmolo, Glok-Chuba, Stormhold, Kangumabog & Stonewastes.
RACES - Argonian (and possibly some Khajiit).
RELATIONS - Very hostile towards the Trillium Magnata whom they know exist but cannot identify their location. Animosity towards the Arnesian Velothi (but mostly not openly violent). Contemptuous but indifferent towards the Royal Court.
FINAL DECISIONS - Armour - Koniption's Iguana Armour including crocodile helm. Weapons - Barbed Leaf, Seruit, Shikah.

5. Royal Court of Argonia (includes the Imperial Navy)
CURRENT WEAPONRY - Kriss Daggers (angular broad kriss, angular kriss and curvy kriss dagger), Gull, Royal Sword.
SPECIALIST WEAPONRY - Prince Nuada's Weapons.
ARMOUR - Possibly includes Dwarf cuirass and tarnished steel armour but a distinct armour set is preferable.
SPECIALIST ARMOUR - Retextured Ordinator Armour (I'm doing this now!)
SETTLEMENTS - Gideon (base), Stormhold & Soulrest.
RACES - Argonian, Imperial, Breton & Elven.
RELATIONS - All-encompassing. Although some may object to the Sotho Tren, Argonian tradition makes them tolerant of the Shadowscales despite Imperial influences.
FINAL DECISIONS - Armour - Retextured Ordinator Armour. Weapons - Royal Sword.

6. Shadowscales (includes the Seth cult)
CURRENT WEAPONRY - None decided upon as yet.
SPECIALIST WEAPONRY - Andragorn's Shadow Weapons.
ARMOUR - None decided upon as yet.
SPECIALIST ARMOUR - Wozee's Armoured Masks or possibly Aknevrec's Elven Armours (assassin variation).
SETTLEMENTS - Gideon (base), Stormhold, Chasepoint, Stonewastes, Kulu-Hees, Hixinoag.
RACES - Argonian (a particular variant race?) with some other Dark Brotherhood co-operates of different races (although NOT Shadowscales as such).
RELATIONS - Uneasy with anyone except fellow Argonians, although Dark Brotherhood members are normally accepted.
FINAL DECISIONS - Armour - DB robes. Weapons - Andragorn's Shadow Weapons.

7. Sotho Tren (a criminal syndicate which includes pirates, thieves, embezzlers and rogues)
CURRENT WEAPONRY - Dragoon, Kriss Basket, Marsh Cutlass, Steel Spear. SPECIALIST WEAPONRY - Goblin Real Swords (and Shields).
ARMOUR - Stonewastes tabard?
SETTLEMENTS - Gideon, Soulrest, RockGrove, Chasepoint, Kamgumabog, Stormhold & Sloughpoint.
RACES - Khajiit, Argonian, Bosmer, Breton, Redguard & Orc mainly (wide choice, huh?).
RELATIONS - Disruptive (but not altogether hostile) with the Fighter's Guild. In constant 'discourse' with the Royal Court in order to 'manage' a large and unwieldy underworld that would be difficult for the Royals to appease.
FINAL DECISIONS - Armour - vanilla citizens and pirates. Weapons - Dragoon, Kriss Basket, Marsh Cutlass.

8. Trillium Magnata (a syndicate of ex-slavemasters and barbarians)
CURRENT WEAPONRY - Kriss Daggers (angular broad kriss, angular kriss and curvy kriss dagger), Meat Cleavers.
SPECIALIST WEAPONRY: DireStorms Druidic Axes.
ARMOUR - Glass Cuirass, Robe1, Deerskin.
SETTLEMENTS - Tenmar Wall (base), Gideon, Stormhold & Soulrest.
RACES - Altmer, Dunmer, Imperial, Breton, Orc & Bosmer.
RELATIONS - Very hostile towards the Ka'Pura and a little hostile towards shaman (although not so as to infringe trade agreements). Some friends amongst the Arnesian Velothi.
FINAL DECISIONS - Armour - Deerskin. Weapons - Kriss Daggers and Meat Cleavers.
NB: This is by no means a definite list. I have assigned all existing custom models although these may need to be re-thought. I have not assigned any vanilla items as yet. Some of these details may need to be researched, especially as far as the Shadowscales go as I felt that their equipment would be very much specialist stuff.

The Shaman and some of the Ka'Pura Tribe may need to be a separate race in order to use COM's headsets: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6553 .

Please refer to the current race selection when deciding on relevant choices: New Race Selection . Bear in mind that there is no faction as yet for the Southlanders: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14921 . I am planning to include these in Hixinoag but I might well leave them without a faction as such.

Please refer back to this information when deciding on settlement layouts as some areas will need to be set aside for quests.

This is just a work in progress, I'll add more information for each faction as I recover it from the old threads:

The Royal Court
The Imperial Navy
Great House Dres splinter faction
The Freetown Communes (ex-slaves, anti-Dres)
The Cantimiric Velothi
Blackwood Company
Khanaten Independence Movement
Black Marsh Thieves' Guild
Black Marsh Mages' Guild
The Sotha Tren (Black marsh criminal syndicate)
The Shadowscales (Black Marsh Dark Brotherhood)
The Hist

I have a special plan for the Black Marsh Fighter's Guild, which I'll explain in a later post when I have time.

For now, what's important is - have I missed any factions?

I noticed that KuKulza mentions the Archeology Guild in that list. Was that before or after 'Lost Spires' was released?

You probably already know that I did all the voices for 'Lost Spires' but I thought it might interest someone that would consider furthering the idea of an archeology Guild in BM that they already have some cool resources available to them:

1) I can reprise some of my earlier roles from the original mod (which is currently sitting pretty at #7 in the TesNexus Top Mod lists - the highest for a quest mod). Of course, Teav, my Argonian character is dead now but that could be a source of inspiration for a new storyline. I could certainly help with the storyline as well, if needed.

2) I might be able to get some small amounts of help and support from Leo Gura himself (the creator who earned a place with Boston2k on the back of this work).

3) The Spires themselves and the caves associated with them (check the screenies on the site) should be available. And if the storyline takes us in such a direction then it might be cool (and easy to do) to change the general 'blue' look of the caves to a different colour....and to 'mossify' the Spires themselves.

I'd avoid 'claiming' this particular part of BM because I feel confident that there are potential recruits out there who would be more than happy to make 'Lost Spires - Part II' within a whole new worldspace.

Right. I didn't know that existed, it's a good list. It's very comprehensive, but I think that some of the factions should, in fact, be merged. For example, there's no point having both the Royal Court and Royal Army as separate factions (when instead you could join the Army and work your way up to the Court, which makes more sense). Also, I can't see being a Census and Excise officer being much fun for the player. Big Grin As it is, I just don't think we'll be able to make that many main quests and still make sure they're all as well-developed as they should be to be interesting. Also, the ones we do include as joinable factions could use a bit more development - perhaps they should have "recruitment" books which explain their motives, like all the factions in Vanilla Oblivion - I could easily write these if you like.

But what we need to decide now is, how many of these factions will appear in the beta?

I think the Mages' Guild and Thieves' Guild would probably be restricted to this area of the country, seeing as it's the only bit the Empire really controls.

The Ka'Pura tribe (possibly they were the ones later renamed Hixinoag? I think Hixinoag is a better name) will be in Blackwood, as will the Blackwood company.

Based on my idea for Tenmar Wall, there would probably be some people from the Khanaten Liberation army hiding there.

A few Shadowscales will be around doing missions for their masters, and there will be a few Archeins in each city, but perhaps these factions should not be joinable in this chapter of BM?

Edit:

Ibsen, I for one would really like to work on some kind of continuation of the Lost Spires story! That's a fantastically generous offer to investigate that possibility for us. I wonder though, are you thinking of a direct continuation of the story of the Spires themselves, or a different adventure, perhaps with a continuation of the story of some of the characters? It could be fun to have them exploring the ruins of the Kothringi in the deep marsh! Smile

Seeing as I voiced all of the male characters, it would be easy to 'write in' their involvement with a 'Lost Spires - Part II' questline and expect some serious continuation. In fact, some of the lines that I wrote for the Assistants regarding the backgrounds of all of the Guild members would be directly applicable towards making some sort of a continuation.

Actually, there are parts of the storyline that come across as not just H.P. Lovecraft inspired but also 'Heart of Darkness' (Joseph Conrad) inspired (which was also the basis for the film 'Apocalypse Now'). Seeing as how the book was originally set in the jungle, there would be a real foundation for continuing the second episode in this vein.

As far as the 'continuation' question goes then I think that a BM version of LS would definitely use the elements (and NPCs / models / creatures) of that mod but simply apply it to our country. In a sense, it would represent 'Part II' but we could fit the relevance of why the Warlocks would choose to set up their Spires in the swamps to the needs of the BM itself whilst also acknowledging what has gone before. A continuation would need to consider both what has gone before and where that fits in the whole game-plan for BM. I'm absolutely certain that Leo would have no problem with us using his stuff (hey, it's me after all and he's grateful for my work!)

I'm really excited about this now.

The way it seems to me, given that this would be a direct sequel to the "Lost Spires" storyline (and therefore you'd have to have played part I first for the plot to make sense), this might work better as an .esp which is dependent on BM, rather than an integrated into the .esm? This would give the people who want to work on it more freedom, provided it was agreed in advance which locations in the swamps would be used. Just my thoughts.

Plus, wait a second..... the Argonian guy dies? Noooo! (I only discovered the Lost Spires recently and still haven't got all the way to the end) ---- rushes off to boot up his copy of Oblivion ----- Big Grin

Ach, sorry Deeza! I should have put spoiler marks around that (can we do that on these forums?).

I think this is only do-able once we have completed the beta regions and a bit more besides. In fact, the beta's completion should signal the start of work on this one, IMO. The Spires will need to be spread around but as long as there is a basis for putting in some major areas then it can begin. However, I don't think there is a tremendous need to make it an 'add-on'. My initial idea was simply to vary the types of dungeons we have available to us and to have the Spires embedded in our landscape would be a real benefit to the general look of the mod (they look gorgeous!). It's just that, until you reach a certain point in the missions, then some areas should be inaccessible.
