Bob thinks its a good Idea

It is the Warhammers guild the ranks could portray this

Mallet instead of Initiate will work

Wooden Hammer it is. just a plain wooden Hammer or a plain Warhammer

So it will be more of a recognition thing than a weapon (is this the idea?)

Yes a recognition thing. Nothing special, a name, maybe something expensive, with almost no atack.

But perhaps with a passive effect, like fortify luck or endurance or something else, to convey the fact that the gladiator has survived the guild.

I think Exethalion might have an idea here:

Along the lines of recognition: We could add a bit to the dialogue active only when the player has the hammer in his/her inventory.

Within the Greetings: Hello (PCName) your reputation precedes you, its a pleasure to meet one of Kragenmoors greatest warriors.

Well, the odd one out was quarter-pounder, but yes, I liked great sledge, It was the first I came up with, and I had to think long and hard for the others.
