Me :dunce:

I believe we had determined that the exclusivity of the Cerro to restrict themselves to Dunmer from House Redoran was purely due to location.

This exclusivity was not an immediate, It is possible and very likely that in the early days our first Cerro may have feasted on everything

The relationship between the House Redoran and House Dres dates back a long way.

It is Rumored that Members of House Dres Council are Vampires.

Is their a possible connection ?

RE: Cerro Vampires - raggidman - 11-10-2006

bob #####s It is location, history and the nature of the Beastie - there is a pathos inthe Redoran who are so deeply suspicious of anything anti- or un-Dunmer become trapped in a form that is totally abominable to them.

You might see the Ancientest as a Redoran version of Divayth Fyr, much younger, but trying to help his fellows and fight on in true Redoran fashion.

This adds something to Redoran History - and the nature of the trials that they faced, as well as the relationship between them and vampire kind and them and the Dwemer. If we can add something new to their history then that is something Confusedhrug

What I am thinking bob is that this adds another layer to the Ancient Timeline:

EITHER - we have a rather complicated chain of events =

Archie, 'the Ancientest' manages to escape the clutches of the Imperial vampire who started it all. Did he have help?

Who exactly were the Redorans that the Imperial infected and enslaved through the blood bond?

These proto-Redorans had a very hard fight of it defending themselves against this Vampire and what became his clan. They came to hate the Imperial and Vampires with a passion.

Maybe this was at the point where the Great Houses were forming. The Dres were already 'infected' and moving East to their eventual homeland, but a small band of Dres struck off on their own. They had heard of a Dwemer city in the mountains, and rumours of bandits, and they are thinking that this might be an area where they would be able to 'predate' in a more civilised manner.

They ran across the Imperial Vampire and the band of proto-Redorans, and they all fought.

It was deep in the winter and the Proto-Redorans that survived legged it. In their flight a small band of these separated from their brothers and sisters found the Entry to the caves that would be called Kedal.

Archie (an excellent Alchemist) used the skirmishes to do a runner, and looking for a place to hide out found his way somewhat later into Kedal = the Kedal story of the Object.

Now as he explores the potential of the Object he realises that he can defeat the Imperial, but he does not really want to hurt his 'brothers and sisters.'

He watches events from a distance, and decides to approach the Dres, as they appear to be different from the Imperial.

Archie discovers that the Dres have started off on their own as they feel that their siblings are more than a bit over the top -just like the Imperial. So they make a pact - Archie and the Dres will fight the Imperial together, but they will attempt to capture rather than kill the other former Redoran Vampires in an attempt to free them from the Imperial's thrall.

It is a long, hard battle but eventually, with only Archie and two Dres surviving, and a couple of the Redorans, they they corner the Imperial in the Deeps of what will one day be the Cerro Warrens, and Archie uses the Object to bind him in there as he is too powerful for them to kill.

They try everything they can to free the Redorans, but they are unable to break the Imperial's hold on them, and reluctantly Arcjie binds them in there too.

In the following century Archie and his new friends seek to ward the area from the depredations of further Imperial vampires and other enemies, acting as a rearguard of sorts for their kin, but with the Imperial Invasion and Red Mountain, one of the Dres falls, and the other, the last of his brave band decides that he has had enough, and taking a store of the potions that they have created together he goes off on his travels.

A side effect of the Imperail Invasion is that more Imperials = more Imperial Vampires. Archie begins recruiting their victims before they become too deeply controlled, and the Cerro take form...

Maybe one day that wandering Dres will return? with ...

OR

the start happened without the interference of the Dres, and the Dres only become a factor in 'recent times.'

I like the idea and the story

But I think for now we should keep it on the back burner possible inject them through some quest once we get further down the line.

- raggidman - 11-12-2006

Whew, maybe that means I will have a bit of extra time to do some 'finished' stuff :goodjob:

- bob196045 - 11-13-2006

:eek:

EXTRA TIME !!!

where did you get that from? does it come in a jar ?

We have lots of things still left to discuss.
But, being able to get something finished is good too
I have some interiors to finish as well

don't forget... there, as far as I know, were no native vampire sin Morrowind...
the Aundae came from Altmeri mages who may have secretly immigrated to Morrowing long ago, maybe exiled from Summerset. The Berne were Imperials, probably following the Imperial invasions, and the Quarra are Nords... probably from when the Nords invaded Morrowind long long ago...

so I think th assumption that the originator was an Imperial is a good suggestion, especially since the Cyrodiilic strains of vampirism can be less noticeable if the vampire is well fed and can survive in daylight if healthy... thus the early Chimer who were infected with this cyrodiilic's vampirism could later conceal themselves as real Dunmer, like some of the Dres councilors/leaders might have...

as for the Berne, perhaps their strain of Vampirism changed somewhat, so that the daylight would kill them... perhaps they adapted to darkness to the point where they couldn't stand it or maybe it is an older strain of the disease, the newer (hundreds of years old) maybe have developed the ability to resist the sun's power...

just some thoughts

ok, I'll try to bring this closer to a quest format, giving the in-game pov.

If this is to truly be an MQ it has to have both a subtle and obvious highly dynamic struggles and choices. There must be a timeline.

Timeline Ancient
In the beginning was the long struggle between the Cerro and the Ancient Imperial Vamipre that infected them and caused them to become ostracised from their beloved Redoran... [book required]

Solution to the Ancient struggle with Imperialo Vamp = Artificial Intelligent Object - player may choose.
The idea I had all that time ago was to create a self aware weapon or armor, or other object. I suggested to Bethsoft that this might make a fine intro, and I went into a lot of detail as to how this might be achieved with the player finding an ancient scroll and learning all the stuff required before he was able to exit the Imperial Warrens.

What I always felt was that it would require:
-Alchemy/metallurgy/Armorer
- Then Enchanting
- Mystic drain attribute and stuff to imbue the Object with attributes.
- But now we have this Spirit - that acts in a symbiotic manner, and loves music.

Storyline
What if the Ancientest in his earlier days, fleeing the struggle with the Imperial Vampire when the Imperial was Assaulted by a group of Dres Marauders came across a way into Kedal?

A group of Kwama dug into the soft soil at the side of the rockslide some years / decades / centuries later, and a huge Kwama mine grew in that place ... = so the tunnelers from inside exit decades later into the Kwama mine.

Now that is not the sort of location where you would expect to find the entrance to a 'secret city'

The new exit tunnel was through a rocky formation that cracked due to the landslide - and a long way away from the previous entry - the actual entry was covered with a huge slab of granite that is on a perfectly balanced pivot - easy if you know the catch.

Maybe the Ancientest Cerro was following rumours about the bandits and stuff, investigated the mine, and say saw a Kwama forrager squeeze through a gap at the corner of the slab with something unusual in it's jaws... ?

There he made friends with the people, aided them when there was a crisis when the way to the dark Oasis was opened by a powerful Kedalin Mage.

To combat this threat they worked with him to create a Mystic Object. And because of the nature of the Spirit which strengthens perception of Majica, the knowledge of Metallugy and Armoring that the Dwemer taught the Kedalin (before they died) along with the Alchemical knowledge that the Ancientest was acruing even then, they succeeded.

But what the Ancientest did not tell them until too late was that - he was even then a Vampire, he had taken flesh and blood from the grave of the 'unknown' Hero who saved them when he was experimenting with ways to achieve success in their project.

He made the blood into a potion and drunk it in an attempt to gain the ability to absorbe part of the Spirit like them with no apparent success. But this had an effect in that when he took part in the creation of the Object - and he used the Hero's flesh in the process (again without telling anyone) - it bonded to him instead of the chosen Object weilder of the Kedlin, and then the game was up.

The Kedlin went for him. He had not intended harm - though perhaps he might have admitted to himself at a later date that he was a bit close-mouthed about what he was up to, but they just saw sacrilege.

So he had to hoof it...

He used the Object which had been intended to prevent the denizens of the Dark Oasis from overrunning Kedal to prevent the Kedalin from leaving Kedal instead. This saddened him as he really had wanted to help them.

The Kedalin created the Hall of the Ancients in response so that if the Evil Mage (as they came to call him) ever returned they would have their revenge, and to bar the way to any others that might be their enemies.

As it turned out the Object decided that it did not blame the Ancientest, and was quite happy to travel around with him, in fact it rather likes him, though it would never admit that. But maybe that is because he has imbued it with his own attributes over the years, boosting them with potions, and then draining the excess into the sword/armor/whatever.

Naturally, when others see him talking to himself? Confusedhrug: Wink

Also he has taught the Object to cast spells. Its favorites tend to be those like telekinessis, sound projection, invisibility, and stuff like that. Great sense of humour that Object, and the bane of the Ancientest's life - although he rather likes it too... not surprisingly the Councilors of the Cerro don't know whether he is more dangerous to himself or to them, but they are in absolutely no hurry to find out.

Why? Well, he defeated the Imperial Vampire and his minions who had them all in bondage (and they cannot figure out how.) Natch the Ancientest used the Object to bind the Imperial Vampire somewhere in the Deeps below the Halls of the Cerro. And I would suppose that by now, that Imperial Vampire is not only just a bit pissed off, but also stark staring insane.

[QUOTE]I have a project that I started years ago for Bethsoft, but that they did not take up - that might fit.

It may be that it would work better if the Ancientest Cerro found a way in - and he stole something extremely valuable (more about that if you are willing to do it this way around.) and th eKedlins are now as keen to keep others out as the Dark Wizard who bound them in is keen to keep them there. Now I wonder who that Dark wizard might be?

The Ancientest Cerro is a somewhat quixotic character - the Council of the Cerro believe that he is crazy as a coot, and they appear to have good reason, but then again things are not always quite as they seem, or at least not for the reasons people believe.

Now I suspect that bob#####s really likes the idea of the Ancientest Cerro - as do I. We also like your Dark Vision of Kedal, though I tend to make lighter dreams. So I believe we can create a balance here between the Dark Kedlins (who have become so through misunderstanding and terrible hardship) and Bob's and my lighter Cerro Vampires, with a serious bone of contention between them.

The big problem the Kedlins have is that:
- they cannot leave Kedal due to the binding laid upon them by 'their own object' as they intended it to be
- even if they could they could not find the Ancientest as the Cerro are totally dedicated to ensuring that no one discovers them or knows about them and Archie never told the Kedlin that he was a Vampire even.
- the Ancientest one is very different now and unrecognisable.

Archie (an excellent Alchemist) used the skirmishes to do a runner, and looking for a place to hide out found his way somewhat later into Kedal = the Kedal story of the Object.

With the Imperial Invasion and Red Mountain, one of the Dres falls, and the other, the last of his brave band decides that she has had enough, and taking a store of the potions that they have created together she goes off on her travels...

A side effect of the Imperail Invasion is that more Imperials = more Imperial Vampires. Archie begins recruiting their victims before they become too deeply controlled, and the Cerro take form...

So we have the Cerro vs Imperial Vampires and not thrilled about Imperials generally as if the Imperials and Hlaalu take over totally they will imperil the Cerro... who will no longer be able to hide... [Book required]

We have to include more hints of Dres as they will become increasingly important in TES4 - maybe through the Pirates later, who may have a Dres-Hlaalu Crew, and Their Agent/s.

Timeline recent:

Start:
The University does not exist, except as the dream of a group of Indoril Sages;

The first place they think of is Silgrad Tower that has a famous Library = and scholars too... but they are at a loss as to how to go about things.

-------------------------------

Timeline future

Maybe one day that Ancient wandering Dres will return? with ...

One day the Imperial Vampire and the bound Redorans will have to be dealt with...

The Kedalin really, really want to find Archie...

The Rage is just beginning... and the Cerro need a Hero to help them control their Young Hunters and Gatherers who are most vulnerable because if the Redorans discover their existance ...

The Cerro must find a cure ...

The University may provide assistance with their researches and just as important create the basis to resist the encroachment of Hlaalu and Imperials alike. For the Cerro this is just another long-term thing that may or may not bear fruit... they have more pressing concerns, but the way a hero deals with the little trials of this nascent institution will tell them how to best use the Hero...

There is much to be done if disaster is to be averted, and so little time to do it in.

Therefore The Main University campus near the Forgotten Forest should have The School of Chivalry and the School of Alchemy for the Young of the Dunmer Leaders, some exceptional Temple and the progeny of exceptional beings who are sympathetic to the New Dunmer and Indoril aspirations from other parts of Tamriel. :check:

~~~~~~~~~~
Architecture and Questing
Just had a thought, the Indoril Founders have to arrive - what if the arrive in a ship that is attacked by Pirates? The Nerevarine is sent on a quest that puts him in the area, or it just activates when the player arrives in a certain area.
...snip...
The Cerro, drawing on the memories of their ancients, inform our questing hero that there are forgotten buildings in the Forest.
The Main Campus
The Hero would have to quest to discover and start first with:
1) - either a buried Ruined Redoran Stronghold on the edge of the Forgotten Forest - that has to be dug up and renovated;
2) - or an Adolescent Emperor Crab (alive or dead) Shell sunken in pool at the edge of the Forest - smaller than the Ald'Ruhn Council House Crab, but far bigger than the Redoran Stronghold. The Crab shell might provide a substitute for the ruin of Ald'Rhun in TES4.
= original moddelling either way and some great battles?
Quests to build, decorate, furnish , employ staff, etc
--------------------------------
When the Main Campus is halfway complete
The project is proving far more costly than at first anticipated - the builders are screwing the Indoril Founders of the University for every gold piece they can get, and the Founders are strapped for cash so (apparently just by chance or out of the blue - is there any such thing?) they meet a shady character (your choice) who mentions that the Fighters' Guild is interested in establishing an Academy somewhere south nr the Black Marshes, and ... more questing ... the Founders accept the commission for:
...snip...
------------------------
The next stage is to complete the Original Main Campus
- that might start with
a Large, Unique Indoril Building
this has benefits down the line - there are a lot of modders in Vvardenfell, and they will have need to create Indoril refugee communities, so we might entice one of them in... ? This could provide the concept basis for an Indoril Tileset... And many players would be fascinated to see what true Indoril building looks like = golden opportunity... and powerful impact if done well.
-------------------------------
Last stage - Expansion
Universities need to attract students and professors from other cultures - or they are mere local colleges. And there are 'freedom factions' in various Provinces... these are the most culturally egocentric of their races... so some of them have special requirements that must be met if the University is to retain them:
- especially the Bosmer
- the Khajiit.
So letters to be sent inviting some very special Tamriellians with special skills and even more special Housing requirements.
Thus the last step is about
- protecting the Nords (to protect them from everyone who wants to kill them because of the current invasion) and Redguards who have been insulted by the Nords and demand satifaction;
- rescue the Bosmer (who are accused of theft),
-The Argons sadly are ambushed by the Cammona Tong and the remains are found by our hero;
- the Khajiit (some of whom are former escaped slaves) are in desperate straights as the Cammona Tong are after them too;
- and the Bretons (name that quest - by deciding who might think they are spies) in time at the Borders to escort them safely.
and all despite mounting and increasingly co-ordinated opposition (may even include some of the out of control, and raging Cerro, who have been tracking a band of Imperial Vampires hired by unknown opposition, to the Campus = and once they all arrive there is overcrowding and boy can those academics bitch. So there is more questing to build suitable accomodations for them esp = a Greenpact home and a Khajiit home.
The Bretons (they are formidable Alchemists) are there courtesy of a very special Lady known as Barenziah ... her son may be unfortunate, but she is well loved Confusedhrug: and better connected, and has a soft spot for the Indoril - maybe due in part to the efforts of her personal friend and biographer who admires their efforts and has recommended the Bretons by reputation.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

...snip...

#~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~#

...snip...

This is one reason that the Indoril are important because they tie in with the Vvardenfell MQ. However we will have to do more work to justify such an assertion... Why, you may well ask? Because a Main Quest is there as a center point for the Major Events of the time. It has to be pervasive, and that means we will have to reach into RPK and BL too, with Razor, Rodan and Valderon still around that may be possible, but we have to do as much as we can here and now so as to impress them sufficiently. ...snip... :]

...snip...

Simply, we will have to tie this into far more in Silgrad also.

What the Nerev finds at the ship:

If the player accepts the commission continued: The player follows the raggidman - who is apt to appear and disappear at odd moments while the Nerev is busy herding the guar - they arrive at the site of the shipwreck to find that the survivors and the cargo are gone... continues below ... > [decision tree - future interactions]

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If the player clicks no Nerev: "Sorry, not interested, but thanks for the potion" he loses a lot of goodwill with the Redoran, Cerro and Indoril. End of conversation.
Even though the player rejected the commission if he visits the site of the wreck later he will find Naimer Indoril there with a small herd of Guar.
Naimer Indoril: So you changed your mind did you? Well, as you see I have got here without your aid, but you may go some way to redeem yourself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The player is again given a choice:
nerev: No, just passing through - seems too late anyway old man.

Naimer Indoril: Then you will forgive me as I have business to attend to.

This is an end to any dealings between the University and the player. much will happen, and the University will be built, but who knows how much better it might have been if the Nerev had decided otherwise?

The player sees the raggidman approach an Argonian soldier who is sitting on the rocks above the ship, and after a whispered conversation the two move off with the Pack Guar in tow... and out of view ... end of quest ... the player will not be able to follow them. How this is possible with a whole herd of guar is known only to the raggidman...

There is an aftermath.

Shortly after the twain leave a band of pirates burst out of the undergrowth, and immediately assault the player... a tough fight ensues, with some medium tasty booty.

Assuming that the player triumphs, there is the ship. If the player enters the ship it shifts, and sinks and lands on the sea-bed upside down. He/she cannot leave. He/she drowns or starves to death - endit.

In response to rejection of the quest by the player:

Book required - Naimer Indoril's Diary

Naimer Indoril's Diary
With great regret I have severed formal relations between our group and the Nerevarine. It was not the outcome I would have wished , but I had to accept that it would be very dangerous to attempt to force such a powerful individual. It was clear that my colleagues are in danger, but this seemed to make no impression and if the potion of unheard of power on the possibility of more that we offered was not enough to gain willing co-operation what else would?

So this is an end also to any future dealings between the University and this gigantic figure who is clearly so central to the major events at the end of this third era. There is much to be done, the University will be built, and when we record this arrogant and selfish individual's deeds it will be with the added bonus of personal knowledge. We now know beyond a doubt what will be behind the events that we must chronicle.

With a heavy heart I turned to my business - there was an Argonian Legionaire perched on the rocks above the ship. So I approached her carefully: "good day legionnaire, my name is Naimer Indoril, I am the leader of the scholars who were shipwrecked here. We journeyed here fleeing the damaging and incessant skirmishing on the Borders of the Indoril Heartlands in hopes of founding a University at Silgrad Tower. I had to go for help as I was the only hardy survivor, but sadly the help proved unreliable, " ... I sighed, pointing my thumb back over my shoulder at the Nerevarine, "and all that I have left are these guar.

Do you have any knowledge of events here after my departure? My colleagues were supposed to wait for my return, and I am very worried for them."

The Argonian, breathing deeply as she tasts the air, watching me carefully as is the way of her people, weighing my behaviour and words, occasionally casting wary glances to where the arrogant (player)youngster smirked.

"Thiss one senssess truth. Greetings to you hunter of wordsss," she sibilated, glancing down at the ink stains that not all the hardship of my recent adventures had been able to erase, "it would appear that we have common cause. this one is called Legionnaire Walks-into-Tree."

to be continued....

? and after a whispered conversation the two move off with the Pack Guar in tow... and out of view ... end of quest ... the player will not be able to follow them. How this is possible with a whole herd of guar is known only to the raggidman...

From Naimer Indoril's Diary and other materials:

Rumors: required
little secret/s: required
Documents required

For Naimer Indoril this is just a temporary setback - he will go on with the Argonian - Legionnaire Walks-into-Tree to locate the pirate ship, and do by stealth what the Nerevarine might have achieved by main force or magic.

The Scholars are freed and the surviving precious books and other possessions regained. Having made their farewells to their new Argonian friend - whom they handsomely reward they return to silgrad City and they found their beloved University at the edge of the nearby Dark Forest.

Once his colleagues are safely at the new building site (with a squad of reliable guards) Naimer Indoril returns to the wreck of their ship with an able work crew to attempt to refloat the wreck.

When he arrives he is astonished to see a scene of utter carnage - pirates (and pieces of pirates) are strewn all over the place. And there is Legionnaire Walks-into-Tree wandering about in apparent bemusement.

Naimer tells her that if he had realised what a fercious warrior she was he would have let her do the fighting at the pirate ship. Then remembering his manners asks if she is wounded, and she explains that this was not her doing - she returned to find this, and veteran that she is, is clearly shocked by the scale of the carnage... no mercy has been shown.

Naimer then wonders what happened to the Pirate Ship, were there any pirates left to return there? Leaving the work Crew to clean up the mess the two friends carefully make their way there, to discover that the ship is empty, so the Naimer remains to guard it while he sends Legionnaire Walks-into-Tree to fetch the skeleton crew that he has hired to salvage the Scholars' Ship, and he sends their prize to the nearest friendly port.

The loot from the ship is considerable, but they do not sell it as this will be a very useful asset in the long years to come. It's not every University that owns a Pirate Ship! Wink

Further world changes consequences:
Anyways, the ship can usually be found at the fishermens' Riverrock Settlement where they first berthed it.

future:
The Fishing Village / Settlement will grow through questing, or without the player's assistance as the presence of the captured Pirate Ship and the salvaged University Ship provide some significance, trade opportunities and so forth - which along with the location provide incentives for further settlers.

always present:
There the stands the proud new Captain in her splendid uniform. Now known as Captain Walks-into-Tree she has taken honorable retirement from the Legion and hired on many of her old comrades to make room for the eager young bloods who wish to join the Legion. The ship now also serves as an auxhiliary defensive asset for the Redoran Portmaster in the event of Pirate attack - which brings in a tidy extra sum every year.

If sweet talked her attitude to the Nerev will temporarily improve and
she will be delighted to show them the unique sword she wears - the Pirate Captain had left it mounted on the wall of his cabin - and tell the tale. She remembers the Nerev as the one who was too busy to help and she makes clear that passage on the ship is only for University Personnel and their Honored Guests.

Once the conversation is finished she again regards the Nerev with suspicion.

Confusedhrug: What? Just to rub it in! Wink

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[I]... /continued form above, if the player says yes:
The two yes options join here:
The two travellers arrive at the site of the shipwreck to find it deserted, except for an Argonian Legio footsoldier standing on the rocks above the ship. at their approach the soldier whips something behind her back ... > [decision tree - future interactions] > a test vs int will reveal that the Argonian has been drinking heavily ...
-------
If they talk to her the player may note that the social index is very low (this Legionnaire is clearly not in a mood to simply trust the unlikely pair and is very drunk):
Argonian Legionnaire amiably inquires: "Who are you? And what is your business here?" > [decision tree - future interactions]
1) The player may try his/her social skills...
Using Skills:
skills use A) Nerev: Did you see what happened here?
If the player is lucky or skilled and succesfully sweet-talks the Argonian will explain that she has been following a group of pirates. They seized the scholars and the cargo. They would have looted the rest of the ship, but it shifted, and they decided that it would be too dangerous... so they took their prizes to their ship intending to return to see if anything could be done to loot or salvage the wreck later...... continued...[/I] [decision tree - future interactions]
"Thiss one senssess truth. Greetings to you hunter of wordsss," she sibilated, glancing down at the ink stains that not all the hardship of my recent adventures had been able to erase, "it would appear that we have common cause. My name is Legionnaire Walks-into-Tree." > [decision tree - future interactions]
skills use 1B) If the player uses bribery the Argonian Legionnaire immediately attacks, and attempts to knock Naimer and the player unconscious using the spear as a club or quarterstaff - and a troop of legionaries appear from the water and surroundings and pitch in: see 1B1 and 1B2
skills use 1B1) If the player kills the Argonian then he/she will be outlawed and hunted down by the AL and other Legions whenever in their territory if he manages to escape. = to be decided
skills use 1B2) If the player knocks the Argonian unconscious then there follow further choices:
1B2a) run off - and be declared outlaw in Imperial territories - He or she may surrender to the Authorities and the penalty will be severe = imprisonment = skills loss > [decision tree - future interactions]
1B2b) hold the Argonian hostage and heal, while attempting to parlay with the other Argonians. Questions may lead to: > [decision tree - future interactions]
- 1B2ba) agreement about misunderstanding and decision to co-operate. Player: "How could we have known that you, a lone sentry, are truly of the Legio - we found the disappearance of the scholars deeply suspicious... we must find them. But we see now that you are not a lone spy for bandits, pirates, or other kidnappers - we would not imprison a genuine member of the famous Legio Argones. I am [name of PC] and this is Naimer Indoril, the leader of the shipwrecked scholars"
Naimer Indoril decides: "There has been a misunderstanding, we do not kidnap Legionaires." - sets Argonian free ... "there has clearly been skullduggery afoot here. My colleagues would not simply abandon our ship, and all the precious books that we salvaged are missing - perhaps we might join forces to apprehend the real culprits and recover the stolen property?" > [decision tree - further interactions]
- 1B2bb) information exchange but no real trust.
The player says: "We came here to escort the scholars and their property to Silgrad Tower - we did not expect to be attacked by officers of the Emperor. If you wish we may exchange intelligence, but I do not think we need the services of rash and impetuous soldiery."
Naimer Indoril agrees: "Now that we are all a bit calmer, please understand that we do not seek to imprison or oppose the Emperors' own," sets Argonian free, "but we must seek out my colleagues and recover the missing property. Perhaps, although we have not established a basis to work more closely together, under the circumstances we might share intelligence?" > [decision tree on sharing intelligence]
- 1B2bc) further emnity - ... > "You claim to be Legionnaires, yet my employer's colleagues and property are clearly missing? You may be as you claim, or maybe a rearguard left by kidnappers."
[*note Naimer Indoril will have something to say about a prisoner]
Naimer Indoril: "Events will prove all, but in the circumstances we cannot risk the lives of my colleagues and our property to unknown assailants in the wilds. We wish you no harm, and will release your colleague once we are clear as you may be what you appear to be, and advise you not to interfere in our attempts at rescue." > [decision tree - more interaction?]
2) Without using social skills the choices are:
2-2 "Two knackered travellers looking for their friends - mind if we join you?" > [decision tree - more interaction?]Player joins the Argonian who waits further developments.
2-2 Player "Are you thirsty too?" > [decision tree - more interaction?]
2-2A If the player has any form of drink it transfers from his/her backpack to the Argonian's hand, and the Argonian replies: "Thankss, don't mind if I do - Hunter isss Legionnaire Walkss-into-Tree, veteran of the Argonian Legion, but who are my fine companions?" = > [decision tree - more interaction - 2A company joins forces]
2-2B If the player is not carrying any sort of drink then the legionnaire says: "Sssuffering from dehydration iss not necessary." And a bottle of (choose a drink) appears in the player's backpack if there is room, otherwise it appears on the ground.
2-2A
2A) Company joins forces: "I am player name, and this is Naimer Indoril - one of the scholars who were shipwrecked here. Master Indoril has hired me to guard him, his colleagues and their property.
response: "Thiss one senssess truth. Greetings to you hunter of wordsss," she sibilates, glancing down at the ink stains that not all the hardship of Naimer Indoril's recent adventures had been able to erase, "and hunter of Godsss," looking at the player, "it would appear that we have common cause. Legionnaire Walks-into-Tree." > [decision tree - future interactions]
2B) Who are you? And what has happened to the scholars?
response: "I am Legionnaire Walks-into-Tree a Sssoldier of the Argonian Legion and the Emperor'sss represssentative as you can sssee from my uniform, but now you may introduce yourssselvesss alssso and explain? hic : see 2Ba/b
2Ba) Apologies, I should have introduced us, just being cautious you understand. I am player name, and this is Naimer Indoril - one of the scholars who were shipwrecked here. Master indoril has hired me to guard him, his colleagues and their property.
response: "Thiss one senssess truth. Greetings to you hunter of wordsss," she sibilates, glancing down at the ink stains that not all the hardship of Naimer Indoril's recent adventures had been able to erase, "and hunter of Godsss," looking at the player, "it would appear that we have common cause."> [decision tree - future interactions - company joins forces]
2Bb) What is there to explain? We are Imperial Citizens and Citizens of Morrowind about our private business - salvaging this ship and its contents.
A troop of Legionaries appear in the clearing and surround them. The Argonian says: "Ssince you refuse to ansswer my reasssonable questionsss and deny my authority I am arresssting you for obsstruction and you will accompany me to the Fort where you will ansswer the ssame questionss for my sssuperiorsss."
They are taken to the Fort where they are thoroughly interrogated, but well treated while their stories are checked. On release they are told: when a legionnaire acting in the course of her duty tells you to answer her questions you co-operate." They discover that the Argonians have rescued the scholars, and escorted them to a nearby fishing village where they are gratefully recovering in somewhat cramped quarters.
A pirate ship was captured in the process.
A mightily pissed off Naimer Indoril bids the player follow him to the fishing village where he hires the villagers to assist in salvaging the Scholars' ship. etc >[decision tree - future interactions]
2C) Who are you to question us like this?>
response: "I am Legionnaire Walks-into-Tree a Sssoldier of the Argonian Legion and the Emperor'sss represssentative as you can sssee from my uniform - you will accompany me to Fort (Argonian Legion)
A troop of Legionaries appear in the clearing and arrest them.
They are taken to the Fort where they are thoroughly interrogated, but well treated while their stories are checked. On release they discover that the Argonians have rescued the scholars, and escorted them to a nearby fishing village where they are gratefully recovering in somewhat cramped quarters.
A Pirate Ship was captured in the process.
A mightily pissed off Naimer Indoril bids the player follow him to the fishing village where he hires the villagers to assist in salvaging the ship. etc > [decision tree - future interactions]
2D) I don't associate with the Beast races - be off, lest you try my patience.
response:
A troop of Legionaries rise from the water and the surrounding trees and surround them.
soldier presents spear - "I am name a Soldier of the Argonian Legion and the Emperor's representative - you will accompany me to the Headquarters of the Argonian Legion - the player suffers huge and probably permanent status loss with the Legio Arg and serious status loss with the Legions generally.
At the fort they undergo heavy interrogation, and are imprisoned while their stories are checked - during which time they undergo permanent stat reduction as a result of the harsh conditions.
Sometimes when people undergo hardship together they become closer - but in this case Naimer Indoril does not appear to appreciate the results of the player's actions, and at Naimer Indoril's insistance they part company - he says: "I hired you to protect me and my colleagues, not to start a war with the Legions - especially not with the Argonian Legion." > [decision tree - future interactions]
.......................
If the player clicks yes and gains the Argonian's trust:
Company joins forces
The Argonian introduces self (reprised) and explains: I have been observing movementssss of thesse piratesss for some time. When one of them ran into their camp a while back ssshouting about a wreck, they all ran off and I ssstayed with them, hoping that my unit (who have been delayed) would catch up.
The pirates surrounded the Scholars, decided to use them to carry the loot back to their own ship and not content with the loot they found intend to hold them for ransom.
Yes Options:
YES 1
Nerev: We should wait here for them. they will attempt further salvage and we can then wittle down the numbers. [decision tree - future interactions]
YES2
Nerev: We should go to their ship and see what is happening there before we act directly. [decision tree - future interactions]
Watch for the pirates to leave their ship, then rescue the Scholars and their possessions, no time for looting the pirates are coming back...
etc.... add to this later - intent = create choices and consequences for the player that may be permanent or recoverable, and have later interactions provide diffent situations and quests.
............
[/quote]
Working notes: This seems a bit complicated, but the idea is to create a decision tree that offers recursive / recoverable options. So that the player can make mistakes and hopefully some of the options will prove more satisfactory than others, but all will bring the player to something of interest, and just about all will allow the player to play through any tough bits. However this is intended to make it clear (once the player has played through several options that following the University quest is potentially profitable Wink )
Big Grin
Ok so I read through most of this and their are a few minor details which could use some editing ( who's the editor anyways Big Grin ) j/k
But in all its a good story.... what's Steinaech take on the Kedal/Cerro interaction?
I think the first thing is the timeline interface, who came first the Kedal or the Cerro, based on what I have read we are saying the Kedal predate the rise of the great houses, a time when chimer first entered morrowind.
If this still holds true then our Ancient Timeline would not fit.
We are saying that the first redoran settlers (proto-redoran) are the Kedal ? Is that the correct interpetation?
If true: Then Archie learns of this rumour.
1) An Ancient text, a journal perhaps, written by a kin which he thought was dead... tells of their journey, the discovery of a cave system.... maybe a little more info but not to much.
2) By chance he discovers it as you indicated.....
"What if the Ancientest in his earlier days, fleeing the struggle with the Imperial Vampire when the Imperial was Assaulted by a group of Dres Marauders came across a way into Kedal?"
Either way...
but its important we have a good time interface, we dont have alot of years to play with.. The great houses didn't form until when??? 1E 700-800 ????? So if the Kedal are the "Proto- Redoran" and they have been hidden for over 1000 yrs then we need to start this at the very beginning of the forming of the great houses...
If we go back further...then our proto-redoran were pre-curse chimer, who were attacked by the Imperial Vamp, it wouldn't make much difference accept that though the curse would affect all Chimer, the Kedal, would not have known it was a curse....they could assume that the darkness of skin and redness of eyes was a condition of their surroundings
Enough for now...and sorry it took so long to get around to this....I been busy Sad
