Here is the tapestry I created

Not bad. Though the stamp looks a little out of place, if you could just sketch out the markings from the stamp, and run them through some tool (such as the GIMP Clothify script) to make it look more like part of the tapestry, that might help. Alternatively, you could also try running the stamp itself through a script. Up to you though.

Maybe, I will have to find the GIMP script for it.

The clothify script came with GIMP, I'm pretty sure. It is under Script-Fu->Alchemy -> Clothify.
If Clothify doesn't give you results you like, you might also consider Add Canvas under Filters->Artistic->Apply Canvas.
I attached comparison screenshots. First shows the original template, second shows Clothify (I chose the options very quickly, might be worth experimenting), third shows Apply Canvas.
EDIT: Slightly better Clothify options with Elevation set to max, and Depth set to about 4. Combinations might be interesting... I'm having too much fun experimenting.

Is it supposed to be completely black? Oblivion doesn't work too well with the shading on such textures (my opinion).... I would recommend making it brighter or something like that so that you can see some difference when there is lightning on it and when there isn't.
I also think that it would be nice to have the whole tapestry in the same color with a smooth transition between symbol and tapestry.

I'm looking for a texture for the Chitin armour I'm working on. It's the pale cream/white colour for the shell-type affect on the armour. I'll probably be making one myself, but if someone here can make a better one, I'll happily use that instead.

Thanks TID, I will be working on that ASAP. As for the canvas colour well I will try to blend the sign in well with the rest but the sides are ment to be lighter than the middle for contrast, also makes it a bit tidier. I think maybe a bit lighter overall, but the faction is very dark and I myself think it would be quite dark inside.

Unfortunately the symbol of the Morag Tong as it looks on the MT board's forum graphic - and your tapestry - is a Bethesda asset from TES3. It'll have to look different to be included. Hopefully without wax, too
Maybe you can blow up the image of the original symbol and trace the contours with line art or something like that? Then that line art could presumably be run through tools and filters in Photoshop. I'm sure it would be quite a bit of work but the finished symbol would be highly versatile for any and every texture connected to the guild - shield symbols, wood carvings, artwork, tapestries, you name it.

Ok so I got nothing else done to this yet, I formatted my machine and now I am using Photoshop instead of GIMP. This is supposed to be better
So can someone take this and then explain how to do it in photoshop. Thanks.
