Guide to Haerter?s Gap
Kyne, mistress of the sky to whom we pray, let our sins be forgotten
and let your winds speed us on our way! I am Thylt and I'd like to tell
you about the mountain pass of Haerter's Gap.
The name "Haerter's Gap? comes from a man many a year ago, who came to
the pass with his family. He became a messenger, and a very successful
one at that; he alone made trade to Cheydinhal to Riften twice as fast
with his famous knowledge of the pass and the surroundings. However in
his prime he was fell to his death when part of the slope gave way. In
his honour a statue was built in his name and the Town was renamed,
Haerter?s Gap. This all happened around the time when most of the old
now abandoned forts where built, so at the time little attention was
paid to the Gap and it did not have any officials to oversee the ebb
and flow of migrants and travellers crossing the border from Skyrim and
Morrowind.
In recent years Haerter?s Gap has become an important imperial trade
route, so an Imperial border guard was set up, which was soon followed
by garrison from Morrowind and the Imperial bear legion of Skyrim,
along with their respective census offices for each of their provinces.
The architecture of Haerter?s Gap is reminiscent of the type used in
Bruma, however there are a few subtle differences, such as the roofs
being made of wood instead of thatch. The architecture used in the
creation of the Census offices is that of Skingrad, the reason for this
is the designer was from Skingrad, however he did not think of the
consequences of his decision and to this day the rooms remain very
cold, and there is some doubt whether the roofs can stand up to a heavy
snowfall.
At the base of the pass lives an old man called Clyde who runs a small
hunting shop named, Clyde?s Hides. He specialises in making fur armour
and can make very easily custom pieces for the customer, I suggest
buying some fur armour from him before preceding up the path to
Haerter?s Gap as it is very cold and bears are a common sight in the
Jerals.
When you get to Haerter?s Gap you may want to rest at Tjernagel's
Public House for a few days before moving on as the food is filling and
her hospitality is warm. It is common for it to get crowded though in
the colder months, as storms and blizzards are more common and far more
deadly than in other parts of the year.
If you need your weapons or armour repaired while you are in Haerter?s
Gap or need new ones entirely I suggest popping in to Aaberg?s Repairs
who will see to you promptly, although he can sometimes be abit grumpy.
If however you are in need of food on your journey or other provisions
then I suggest you go to Moldstadt's as he always has some good stock
available for a weary traveller.
A few things to remember when crossing the border; you may not take
Glass, Ayleid or Dwemer items from Cyrodiil into Morrowind or Skyrim,
and you may not take the same things along with anything that even
looks like it is of Falmer origin from Skyrim into the other provinces.
I will not mention what may be taken from Morrowind as these laws are
always changing and are never the same.
I recommend only staying in Haerter?s Gap for a few days if your only
passing through if however you are there for the hunting and the
adventure then I wish you well, and I heed you to take my advice of
only hunting prey that you have had prior experience with as the
hunting in the Jerals is significantly stronger.
Let Kyne blow her winds softly on you soul, and mead flow strong down your throat!

Thanks!
I'll fix any grammar errors and add the book to each of the customs offices.

TOYB, is HG an important imperial trade route? It seems a bit small and
inaccessible to be an important trade route and also lacks a few more

I keep trying to make it as UN-important as possible, but everyone
wants it to be a major border crossing. Tell you what: once we get this
"little" place done, we'll do a few major ones: Cyrodiil to Skyrim,
Cyrodiil to MW and Skyrim to MW. (I love these border cross-cultural
areas
.)

Honored and happy to do so!
PM me the finalized version of the line (or just post it in the Voice
Actors thread) and I'll upload an mp3 ready for subsequent
"Psychotic-reverbification" asap...
Furthermore, if there are other Nord lines you'd like read in the same
voice I've been using -- rumors and whatnot -- just let me know.
Lastly, if you think either of the two other Nord voices in both of the
"Nord Bar Talk" mp3's would be of use anywhere, I'd be happy to give
other HG Nords a voice...lemme know...

It should look like the other "Guides" and have clearly written on the
front "Guide to Haerter's Gap". It also should look more weather-worn
than the rest of the guide books.

OK I have done this (opinions),
I have made the book more rough by darkening and adding a rough textures. I then added the writing.
I did it at first to a single sided texture then realised that the back has the inverse of the writing
. It is now fixed
.

I recommend Frost "Magic and Necromancy" (parts I and II) for your next
re-tex. It's best to ask TOYB how he wants the cover to look as he's
the author.
