Thanks - took a quick look but couldn't make it work in 10 minutes. That means I'll actually have to pay attention and think about it, which means doing it tomorrow. I'll figure it out. And I'll look at some original meshes, too.

Would you normally shade to 100% opacity, or just a smidge?

I don't see an export option - although there is a "Do not use Blender Properties" which may switch it off. I'll have to experiment.

Only very occasionally will you need to use 100% (the only thing I can think of is if you wanted to shade some sort of hole, or crack where you couldn't see the end of), most of the time you should use between 20% and 60%, and really it depends on what your shading (if it's defining detail on a model, about 20-30%, if it's a shadow under a roof, maybe 50-70%, also depends on the texture, and so on -it's for the modeler to judge).

I'll revisit the Astrolisk when I'm ready to do interiors, I think. In the meantime here is a first cut for the temple itself, textured in Desert and Forest liveries.

I think the scale is about right from the original concept, although there's not a whole lot of room inside. I think we're looking at a single smallish chamber, probably with steps down to catacombs of some description. The top of the roof is open for observing the heavens - so if we've got any bats or other flying things that like caves this will make a nice home.

So - the screenies:

From far and wide badly dressed tourists travel to see the famous Lunar Temple of Kings Walk. Well, OK - maybe not, but it gives a good sense of the scale:

Meanwhile, far to the south, a rather mossier version of the same model sprouts the odd fern and bromeliad:

Needless to say the egyptian motif on the doors is way out of place - and there should be some suitable carvings on the stele over the door. For both of which I need help from a lore-monkey who can draw! Please!

not sure if it's any use, but it might at least give you some ideas

I knew Shewter'd had a go at the Astrolisk - hadn't seen his temple. To be honest I think I'm past the point where that helps, though - thanks anyway.

Those look amazing morcroft :goodjob:
It takes guys as simple as the Dude and Walter to make a story this complicated... and they'd really rather be bowling.

Fantastic! Are you planning on having some smaller ancient buildings to go along with it?

Well - I wasn't, but only because I hadn't really thought about it. It's a good idea and it would expand the explorable space without having to make the temple too big.

Anybody want to point me at some suitable background material?

Me and my big mouth....!!!

:idea2:

So the style should be more Inca than Egyptian - but obviously not identifiably either of them. I'll have a think around these pics. More examples still welcome if anyone wants to chip in.

The temples strand should be post-s'rha, shouldn't it? I'm not really up to speed on the whole s'rha thing but doesn't that pre-date the relevence of the 16 lunar aspects that's tied in to the lunar temples?

And on the same front, was the s'rha tileset delivered, or does that need to be revisited?
