That's exactly how i felt about it, it was more like dancing, we almost never got to do anything practical because the instuctor did not know how :lmao:

And yes Mormacil, a lot of stuff is crap nowadays
Like the colored belts, it's a modern grading system, the old (Japanese) styles did not even have any grading system at all, the only thing that came close to a grading system was a certificate that said a samurai mastered a particular style of swordsmanship (itto ryu kenjutsu), but it was not a grading system.
Meh, colored belts... that is commercialized Wink

yes, but I guess everyone fills a niche...

if you want to seriously learn to effectively defend yourself, there are traditional schools
if you want simply exercise and performance oriented, there are schools for that as well
and if you want to buy a black belt and feel cool, they are way too many of those schools

Confusedhrug: problem is, many of the latter two claim to be the top one of the three... and that's where problems arise... they shoul dhave a sign saying "here you will not be a skilled fighter" or "here you will be a martial-looking dancer" and be done with it... instead of sucking away money and resources, its false advertising
