[Quest Dicussion] Dwemer Mine

More questing is always good, tough for the molds i wonder how would they be implemented in to a quest? If you have ideas for quests go for it, but we could always put the molds in to containers at a very very low droprate. That's how it was done in SI, additonally we can place the molds to be unique or we could give them more molds incase they lose a certain part of the armor.

Hmmm well these molds would be rare so maybe we could have just one set of molds that the player can re-use.

Idea:

Ok the player explores the mines and finds a dwemer ghost, one that happens to be able to talk and is non hostile. The dwemer explains he is a blacksmith and it saddens him that the skills the dwemer spent many years developing have now been lost along with the race. He mentions the way they mass produced their armor and weapons is from a set of moulds, these moulds have been lost somewhere deep in the mine and he asks you to go and find them. If you do he will fashion you a full suit of armor and will fashion some weapons. The armor is a one shot deal but the weapons can be re-moulded because the moulds were designed and made differently so the weapon mould is more durable.

After you find the moulds and needed materials, he will make you armor, but the player has a choice on what he/she wants it to be like. We could offer a few options, then the new suit of armor is made.

The weapons are generic and are made the same as the others thats why he can re-mould some more when needed.

Suit options:

Helms - A more armoured helm, a stealthy helm
Cuirass - A more armoured cuirass, a lighter stealthier cuirass

More ideas will come.

I don't have a problem with a Ghostly Forge, except that it might seem like an immitation.

Radac Stungnthumz is a ghostly Blacksmith found within his forge inside Bamz-Amschend beneath Mournhold, Radac gives the player information on what is needed to complete Nerevar's Blade and then provides the Enchantment.

Well that didn't go over so well did it Big Grin

I still think its a good idea

Doesn't Oblivion have AI packages that allow the player to perform blacksmith services ? If so then maybe the Dwemer Ghost can teach the player the art of Blacksmithing and could make a new piece of this special Dwemer Armour.... it certainly would allow for idea of a different textured dwemer armour as was suggested to me (hint Hint)

Big Grin

Enjoy

No it didnt Big Grin

The Ai packages for blacksmith services is to repair items, the player can do this by using a repair hammer. As for actual forging its down to pure and simple scripting. That is how Bethesda done it and its how we have to do it. No AI packages.

The way to have the skills passed to the player, is the ghost gives the player a manual [for reading] and an item like a mobile forge. The player activates the forge and options are available from a menu based on the items the player has on them. This is easy enough to do just time consuming.
