Council Affairs of Note
Smuggling and organized crime have become increasingly aggressive and violent in the Redoran House Districts. The councilors blame local corruption, weakened enforcement, and aggressive competition between the Thieves Guild and the Camonna Tong.
An unfortunate tax revolt in Balmora was put down after significant property damage and loss of life. The council?s fears were justified in that there was a minor revolt in Maar Gan to the high taxes.
In addition to the Redoran holds of Maar Gan, Gnisis, Bal Isra, Ald Velothi, Khuul, and Ald Ruhn, the Redoran have recently gained a settlement in Foyada Bani-dad named Shishi, it is currently used as a training camp and military outpost.
The Council pressures the Duke to realize the legitimacy of the Redoran claims to Caldera and the area immediately around it.
The Council also warns the Duke that Ashlander warriors have been raiding Redoran settlements more often nowadays and asks that assistance be given to ward off raiders and the like.
Council Plans for the Future
The Redoran Council is intent on hunting down Sixth House raiders and cultists in the Gash region. Because of the presence of large caverns and two old Dunmer fortresses, it is easy for the cultists to hide and regroup in them. Therefore, in order for increased settlement of the Gash region, the cultists must be wiped out. Lord Miner Arobar?s soldiers are spearheading this campaign from his settlements in the North Gash.
The Council also protests the high tariffs on local beverages and is currently negotiating an agreement with the Duke in Ebonheart. If the Duke refuses to relieve the Redoran of the high taxes in addition to the tariff the Council threatens to no longer allow Hlaalu and Imperial trade caravans to freely cross their lands; the caravans and escorts that do not obey the potential new law will be arrested and their goods rightfully in the hands of the Redoran to be put into the vaults and coffers and a certain percentage spread among the people to promote a better economy.
Due to the rumors of increased Telvanni colonization, the Redoran asks the Telvanni Council and Duke Vedam Dren for permission to hunt down these renegades. The Telvanni Council of Vvardenfell has not given a reply, but regardless, if the Duke allows them to, the punitive campaign could bring great wealth to the Redoran in terms of loot, support, and land.

Redoran Territory
The Redoran have the Gash region as well as the Central Ashlands. Caldera is technically within the Gash region, but is an Imperial chartered town, but the profits are partially going to the Hlaalu. The Gash region is mostly unsettled and Redoran councilors plan to settle to region as they grow wealthier and more capable of financing such an enterprise.

Settlements
Ald-Ruhn
Ald'ruhn is the district seat of House Redoran, and a large settlement. The Redoran Council chambers are located inside the shell of an ancient extinct giant crab. Tracks lead north to Maar Gan and Gnisis villages and south to Balmora. It is also the new clan-stead of the Redoran.
Bal Isra
Bal Isra is a fort settlement in the central ashlands. It is conveniently between Ald-ruhn and Maar Gan. It is well protected and and a thriving settlement of the Redoran.
Maar Gan
Maar Gan is a small isolated village in a remote region north of Ald'ruhn. The Maar Gan shrine is an important Temple pilgrimage site. A garrison has been placed here to reinforce Shishi's if necessary.
Ald Velothi
Ald Velothi is a tiny fishing village on the northern coast of the West Gash. It has recentally been opened to trade and travel with Blacklight. The hetman is Theldyn Virith.
Gnisis
Gnisis is a small mining and trade village astride the silt strider caravan route between the northwest West Gash and Ald'ruhn. The village's mine has recently been cleared of blight and muckspunge has had a good harvest. There is a small and diverse Legion garrison on the eastern edge of the settlement.
Khuul
Khuul is a tiny fishing village on the northern coast of the West Gash. It has recently begun trade with Solstheim and is seeing more commerce.
Military Facilities
Shishi
This Velothi tower had been taken by a rogue Telvanni sorcerer. The Redoran arrested and killed the sorcerer and have set up a small military base in this remote place. Here warriors train in the harsh environment with Red Mt. to the Southeast and Falasmaryon and Kogoruhn to the East, and hostile ashlanders to the North.
Marandus
This old Dunmer stronghols was taken by Redoran outlaws and warriors. It is now an unofficial stronghold of the Redoran and cleary out of their territory. It is strategically placed at Lake Nabia and warriors can easily prey on nearby Telvanni sorcerers, ashlanders visiting Bal Ur, and Hlaalu peasants in Suran. It is an illegal settlement, but out in the wilds, Imperial juristiction has no substance.
Bthanchend
The Venim family is proud to have been the family to rid Bthanchend of the 6th House cultists, and subsequent raids though now for loot have yielded Centurion and Dwemer armor to the kinsmen of the Venim. This Dwemer ruin is currently a citadel of the Redoran, or at least the Venim family. It is not known by the Imperials, and so escapes Imperial juristiction.
Other
Redoran Canton, Vivec City
This is the Redoran canton in Vivec and is where the Redoran can safetly hoard their treasures. Their prisons are also here and this is their diplomatic place. Vivec city was not built for war but for religion, commerce, and diplomatic efforts.
Redoran Stronghold, Molag Mar
The Redoran serve their Tribunal Temple well and they have a stronghold in Molag Mar to help the Ordinators and Buoyant Armigers protect pilgrims in the Molag Amur region.

Redoran Military
The military is divided into several sections. There are nobles, warriors, and militia. The nobles are the nobility trained in war and a lord's household guards, kinsmen, etc. who are usually noblemen (of lower status). Warriors are hired or volunteer. The House Redoran is lucky in that they have many willing warriors and they have an old tradition of martial practices. The third are militia, these are mostly for defense and are recruited when necessary. These commoners who volunteer for military service are trained as vigorously as the warriors, but are not forced to follow war as a profession. Nobles are often the manor guards and kinsmen, the warriors are guards and police in peace-time, and militia ar often watchmen and patrols. Councilor Venim plans to introduce western techniques of battle formations to increase the fighting effectiveness of the Redoran warriors.
generic troop-types:
Redoran Watchman, Redoran Militia, Redoran Guar-rider
Redoran Guard/Soldier, Redoran Captain, Redoran Knight
Redguard Mercenary

Redoran Economy
The Redoran economy was in steep decline. However, with the removal of Blight from the Gnisis Mine, increased trade between the mainland and the Redoran lands on Vvardenfell, and the opening of more mines, the Redoran are slowly climbing back up. They are able to export native raw materials and some ore (though not on the scale that the Hlaalu and Imperials are able to). A recently discovered diamond mine near Bthanchend will certainly add to the economic recovery. Besides all of this, the Redoran mostly export alcoholic breverages, and local foodstuffs. Guar hides are also a major export.

Archmaster, Lord High Councilor Ralos Venim
The son of Bolvyn Venim has risen in the ranks of the Redoran to become the Archmaster. His father died when contesting the Nerevarine's prophetic quest. He is now in control of a slowly reviving Great House, and has great ambitions. He, unlike his father, tolerates outlanders to a degree and has hired military advisers from all over Tamriel. He hopes to reform the army and to improve the economy. He understands the hatred the Venims had created against them and is working to appeal to all of the Redoran. The other Councilors are surprised by his ingenuity and openess to ideas. He is also an adept general and warrior and served at Ghostgate for a time. One of his few faults is his uncontrolled love of females and his sometimes disregard for personal safety, a trait of daring generals.
Plans: Venim hopes to settle the Gash region. He also wants to reform the Redoran military. People are encouraged to sign up in militias to recieve military training, and learn to defend themselves. He has had many 6th House warrens destroyed with the help of the Nerevarine and occasionally warriors from the Temple such as Ordinators. Although against the Imperial occupation, he maintains peace. He hopes to regain Caldera from the Imperials.
Challenges: The Hlaalu are a great power in Morrowind. They are not only powerful alone but have to support of the Imperial Legions. He knows that if the Redoran go to war with the Hlaalu, we will be surrounded by enemies, Nord to the Northwest, Hlaalu to the south.... and sympathetic forces of Indoril and Dres will have a hard time reinforcing him. He also recognizes the hostility of Telvanni and Ashlanders towards the Redoran and has ordered frequent patrols and raids to ensure safety.

Cool, I really like the map with the Houses boudaries. Maybe when you get them all done, you can combine some of the maps into one big one, to get a overall perspective of who controls what part of the island?

I guess I'll go through them and kinda proof read for editing, errors or off information that I can think of.
  • - The title of the book should read "Red Book of Great House Redoran." All the original one's from Morrowind don't have the "the" in them.
    - Shouldn't the year in the line underneath the title (3E 431) be the same as the one in the bold title above the list of Councilors (3E 432)?
    - No big thing, but I'm a stickler for details and there is a large space between Councilor and Venim.
    - In the biography of Archmaster, Lord High Councilor Venim, the third sentence, third word should be now, not know. (told you, stickler for details Wink )
Other than those couple of things, it looks fine to me. :goodjob: Now on to the other two.
