Hi ShadowDancer. Glad to see another talented modder interested to be here with us. I started playing TES3 around 2003 I think and have loved TES ever since. I have not 'played' any mods until recently(a mages guild mod I have loaded) but have tried attribute mods and stuff to change the game world in some way.

You are very welcome indeed, Shadowdancer, especially since you specialise in a lot of the things that I am utterly, utterly useless at. Scripting and textures make me twitch in horror :dunce:

Lizard King - Leader of the Black Marsh mod

I don't claim to be an expert with textures Ibsen's Ghost, but I can get by with a bit of luck. Big Grin Scripting though, that I can do pretty well. If you want to have fun with scripting, try to figure out the mechanics of making 9 objects revolve around a center one and make them rotate in the CS (basically it was a model of the solar system, complete with eccentric orbits including pluto's at an angle to the plane of the others). That was an interesting bit of scripting. Its a shame that it dragged the frame rate too much for my liking, but it was pretty sweet as an exercise.

Intro
Boserman is the handle, Mikel Allan Flynn is the real life name. I'm a fifty eight year old retired (early), electrical engineer. Your toaster is probably powered by a transformer or two of my design. Needless to say I still hold the patents.
I did fairly well in my career and made good investments, I love being retired early and have no desire to return to the work-a-day world.
I started with computers in 1970 and have upgraded many units for friends and family.
Started playing Morrowind when it was released and the same for Oblivion. I have never released any of the mods I have made for myself. I have a light understanding of scripts as they are similar to C and Fortran computer programing and IF THEN ELSE statements don't frighten me TOO much, but the problem is that scripting bores me out of my skull.
Now graphics work, that's another kettle of fish altogether for me, I don't have much in the way of graphics software other than 3DMAX, and I have no idea how to create an NIF file worth looking at. I did make a huge island land mass for Morrowind but I never got around to filling it up with objects. I've done a few pathgrids and linked a ton of doors and such and have made a couple of small world areas for Oblivion.
I would guess that I would be best at interior and exterior placement work with objects and such. I stink at AI work and have only made a few practically useless NPCs.
I do have one tiny other small problem though, I'm stuck on dial-up speed only. I live in the woods in the central US and I'm too cheap to pay out the bucks for Sat Internet. It took me four days to download the public 2.5 ST 356MB file.
This might hamper my ability to do much contributing to ST, but I would really like to do so if at all possible. I have a mid range system with a 300 GIG hard drive on it that is only about half full, so I have a little room to work with. I'll check out the process I need to go through and see if I can at least contribute a small amount of useable material for ST. I too wish to see TES continue on as long as possible, I'm thoroughly addicted to it, and I'll soon be checking out Fallout III. I was a huge fan of Fallout and Fallout II.
I lost the use of my legs in a bad auto accident which means I now spend a LOT of time at the keyboard in front of a computer screen.
I didn't mention that expecting pity from anyone, that sort of thing just insults me, I'm still a fully functional human being in all other aspects and expect to be treated like one.
As I said, I'll check out the necessary process and see what I may be able to contribute. Have a better one, see ya all around.

Welcome Boserman! We have have all shapes and sizes here on the forums. We also have all levels of experience and if one was looking for modding 101 this is the place to start. You sound as if you are more interested in graphics which is perfectly fine as there are other folks who have the same interest and are happy to answer questions. I know when I read thread/posts concerning graphics for mods, whether ST or BC, I have always been impressed by the level of concern and interest in helping others. Go ahead and do some reading if you lose your way in the depths of information please feel free to post your way out. Smile

Welcome to ST, boserman!

If you have the NifTools plugin for Max, the creation of NIF files is not difficult. Since I'm not an artist, inspiration and talent for me can be issues. Smile But interiors (and dungeons if you like spelunking) are definitely needed. Feel free to browse around the forums, the FAQ Board especially.

As for dialup, having just gotten back from a trip to central WV, I know how annoying that can be even to browse. There may be a solution involving mailed media; I'll discuss that with the rest of the Core. In the meantime, tour the threads and get a feel for the place. Since I'm The Voice Guy, I must ask: do you have a good Elder Scrolls voice? Big Grin

Welcome,
Steve

Welcome Boserman. Glad to have you join us. Maybe you can give me some tips on 3ds max along the way. Smile I am just learning how to do modelling so I have been pestering people by asking for opinions.

I don't have Niftools for 3DSMAX that I know of, I'll have to look around, but I think if I had it I'd probably already know. I'm sure I can track it down and get it though, I have a good bloodhound nose for that sort of thing. Since the beginning in 1970 I've never had any trouble getting the software I desired.
As far as my voice goes guys, people say I sound like a young kid on the telephone but they may just all be pulling my leg. Heh Heh private joke hidden in there somewhere. Anyway, I am able to put out a good Texas Southern drawl, or a good Boston slang, but I somehow fail to see where that would be of use here. I can't think of a single character in either game that sounded like they were from Texas or Boston Mass.
Darn it all anyway.

Sorry about the no address for NifTools -- it's here. As for the voice, I understand; not much call for WV hillbilly in ES games either.

Hi, I'm Tabber42 (My everywhere internet screenname, you may have seen me before among various other sites, although if it is bad, I claim nothing!!! lol). My real name is Tyler, and I'm the loremaster for the new (and improved!) High Rock mod.
But about me IRL, I'm 17 and in my grade 12 year, graduating too soon. So far it looks like I'll be trying to get into Video Game Design as a writer sort of thing, I'm creative, just not very artistic Smile but things change quickly, so I never really know what I want to do. Other than that, I'm Canadian and say 'Eh' a lot. Thats all folks!
Other than that, yeah. Here's my pretty much awesome pic, hehe.
